Upcoming Interview with KEZI

Ok guys, as many of you know, I've given 2 interviews so far with KEZI regarding my weight loss surgery journey. I am taping the 3rd installment next week for the 6 month progress report. Korenza asked me for suggestions on what to base the interview on this time and what immediately came to mind was the misinformation out there about us who have weight loss surgery are taking the "easy" way out. We discussed it a bit on the phone and she pointed out, very truthfully, that with the 2 interviews we have already done, she did bring up the fact that this surgery is not easy and that there is a lot that goes into the decision to have surgery, preparing for the surgery, and the follow up that it entails. We then talked more about the importance of having support and the support groups. I mentioned that I went to the Irvine OH event and talked more about OH as well. I asked if she could put a link to OH on their website as this is such a great place to get support. She thought it would be a great interview if maybe one person from the support group wanted to go on the air with me for this next interview to share the importance of support and how much the support has helped you through your journey. If anyone is interested, please let me know. We have plans to tape the next installment of the interview series this coming Monday at 11 a.m. but we could change that to an evening interview (around 7 or so) if need be.

Kim, Can't wait to see your update on the news. How much is your total loss now? I haven't seen you for a couple of months now and your pictures shows a big loss in your face---that is all I can see! Hope to be able to come to the next group get together. How is the new house? Nice I bet, but unpacking is the pits! Julia

Hey Julia, I am doing very well. I am down 97 pounds now ... almost to the century mark!!! I am really hoping to be there by Monday, so we'll see. That would be great if you can come to the next get together. I am going to try and plan a BBQ here at the house this month. I think that would be lots of fun. Maybe BBQ some chicken and burgers. The house is great! Unpacking is so not fun! I am so ready to be done with it. I am hoping to be done unpacking and have the house in order by the end of the weekend.

Kim 97 pounds is awesome! Congratulations. I bet you can be at 100 lost by Monday or maybe more. Hit the water, water, water and fish and chicken and oh, fish and chicken!!! I am down 137.5 pounds totol now and feeling great. It is slowing down quite a bit but I continue to lose, not gain and that is the important thing. I am so happy with my new life, planting flowers, riding motorcycles, and hey, just bending over is a good one! Couldn't do that well last year!! Julia

Congratulations, Julia. 137.5 is wonderful!!! I tell you what, we've moved quite a bit in the last 10 years and losing this weight sure made this move MUCH easier on me, not to mention the family. I was able to do more and take fewer breaks than I ever was able to previously. It was so funny because I told my hubby the first day, it is amazing how much work you can get done when you aren't stopping every 30 minutes or so for a smoke break! lol I even lost like 3.5 pounds or so over the weekend with all the physical activity. It was great!!

Kim, I bet it felt wonderful being able to help out that much. Those are the WOW moments that make it all worth while. I know I went outside last weekend and planted flowers, dug in the dirt, and even pruned a tree. I was outside for a couple of hours and not once did I have to stop and pretend to "survey" my surroundings just to rest. Never had to sit or go in the house to rest. It is a wonderful spring this year and summer will be great too. Hey, I know, maybe unpacking etc. this weekend will help to lose another 3.5 pounds!! Julia

Hi Kim, Sorry so long to reply. I have been working very hard these days, bringing work home with me and working overtime too. Seems I can't find time to get on the boards much these days and I miss it so much...we all need the support, every last one of us. If you need someone to help out, let me know. I do have stage freight but who doesn't? Even the best speakers I have encountered tell me they have it, it's just that most won't own up to it. Regardless, this is a very important matter and I would be happy to help. I was a lightweight to start but that would give the news another angle to talk about too. Showing that this surgery is appropriate for a variety of people and for a variety of reasons. Randy gets the credit for having me come forward....he sent me a pep talk .... see there, this website is soooooooo supportive and that's proof! Sounds like you have enough people coming forward that you may not need more. Just let me know; I'm here for ya girlfriend! Darla

Darla, I would LOVE for you to be a part of this interview. Thank you Randy for giving Darla the pep talk that she needed. I would like to get as many of us together as possible for this interview .... having a little impromptu support group gathering on Monday or Wednesday night. So that means that anyone who wants to come or can come is welcome .... this means you too, Randy. I agree that the support needed and that we all provide is just a wonderful thing and a great thing to explore. Korenza thought it would be a great idea to go to one of our PeaceHealth support group meetings but the next meeting is after the story would air, so that's why I thought of getting a bunch of us together. I have an email in to Korenza and it will either be on Monday or Wednesday evening around 7 pm or so. I will let everyone know when I know for sure. She is away in Vegas for the weekend and I am hoping that she'll check her email at some point so that we'd know before Monday and I think she probably will because it is a working weekend. Again, anyone who can come and wants to come is welcome. Just shoot me a PM and I'll give everyone my address. I am on 55th St. in Springfield.
