Hi Everyone - I am about three weeks before surgery, and am really struggling with weight loss. I actually gained 7 lbs when I went in for my pre-op consultation. It was so disappointing. I am weighing my food, watching carefully to keep things low fat and counting calories. I have cut out all soda pop, all white flour, all sugar and most of the fat. I am only eating three meals a day with no inbetween snacking. I am wheel chair bound the majority of time, but am taking the walker out and working on moving a bit more. I have some exercises I can do in the hot tub daily....still, no weight loss. This is very upsetting, and I am so afraid that after surgery I won't lose the weight either! I don't really know what to do from here...I so need the surgery. It is because of my weight that I can't walk very well. I am eating Lean Cuisines for dinner and drinking protien drinks for lunch and breakfast. Any ideas for me??? What about some sort of cleansing diet? Gesch

Are you drinking your water? I have lost ten lbs so far, and I think all of the water besides watching what I am eating does the trick. Don't worry just keep at it. Oh, and maybe you are retaining water from too much salt, so definately push the water I put away about 69oz a day now. Sheryl

Hi Sheryl - I am drinking about 64 oz of the crystal lite. I am not fond of water, so I thought that it would be okay to drink crystal lite in my water - is that okay? I thought the Nurse Susan told me I could do that. I also realize I am eating toast at night before I go to bed....with some of my other meds. I am also going to change from 2% milk to skim milk and I will make the "super milk" out of it. Do you think that will make a better difference? Gayla

I finally think I am online with the high protien low calorie diet! Thank goodness. It took me a while to get the swing of it, but finally I have it down. The most important thing for me to do is MEASURE! Measure everything I eat....because I obviously think my portions should be bigger than what makes up 1200 calories. The other thing I have started doing is sticking to the meat and vegetables style eating, and eliminating empty calories, but to be honest, it is mostly due to reading everything I can get my hands on about successful dieting...and OH really helps also!
