Dr Deveney - May 23rd
I am setting here, a little teary eyed and very happy. I am so happy to have been directed to this board by OHSU! I am thrilled with the positive response that I have received about OHSU and Dr. Deveney. I am looking forward to meeting him on Monday.
I also am hoping that I can meet some of you who are from the area. I am so determined to be successful in this diet. Have watched the past 4 years pass by, seeing my potential to participate in so many activities go away. I have watched my grandkids grow while I have not enjoyed being able to get down on the ground with them and play with the train or the strawberry shortcake houses and dolls. I've watched my beautiful yard turn to weeds, my bicycle rust, my car never be washed, my house end up not as tidy as I would like it to be, and clothes in my closet that I thought would never fit me again. I collect vintage jewelry, and can't wear most of it, because the necklaces were shorter and won't fit my neck.
My youngest daughter is wanting to have another baby, so I will have a second chance at getting down on the floor, my grandsons love sports and participate in their little leagues, so I will have a chance to go to the games and actually climb up in the bleachers! I will be able to get on the floor and help my grand daughters learn to do crafts and practice playing soccer! Mostly, my husband is getting ready to retire - and I am looking forward to being more attractive to him; spending time working in our yard together and spending less time in my bed by myself, because I cant move very well. I have a lot of work ahead of me - but I am looking forward to the work.
I also am looking forward to a long term relationship and developing friendships here at OH with people who actually have had a common life changing experience!!!

Gayla, I (and probably everyone else here), know exactly how you feel. It's a terrible feeling to have so many limitations due to obesity. The good news is that there is hope. I've already lost 33 lbs. total from my highest weight, and can't believe how good I feel at this early stage. It'll only get better from here!
Thank you Lisa. I am looking forward to all of this change. My son-in-law last night looked me square in the eyes and said, "you are going to go through a lot of changes as the weight comes off. I think you are going to feels so much better." I am so looking forward to this. I am doing a lot of positive things to make changes. I am only 55 years old, and think I finally have some hope! I really appreciate your support, Lisa!

HI Everyone!
I had DR. Deveney do my RNY-Lap on March 7th, and everything went great! The nurses and aides at the hospital were awesome!!! They were so helpful and nice to me.... I had some complications, due to extreme nausea, and ended back in the hospital one night for observation etc. Everyone has been so supportive and helpful to me. Good luck on your surgery! If you have any ??? and want to send me a message I would love to help
