I Am nervous- because when you loose all thei weight- dont we have excess skin left over? Sooo, my question is- How much is it to have the excess skin removed- does insurance cover it? OR is there a way to keep from having to have plastic surgery- like excersising - etc? THank you for all your help!

Of course everyone is different and it is a matter of what you are comfortable with. When you look at your body now does your tummy hang over or does it just pop out. Some people are happy once they loose the weight and feel that a little overhang is no big deal. Its like a balloon once you blow it up and let the air out it still looks like a balloon but just not as tight. For me I needed the tummy tuck to feel like I had completed my journey. My tummy overhung and I didnt like it. Most insurances dont cover it, but it is a tax write off if it related to weight loss. I went to OHSU for mine and it was $5000 there are photos of my before and after on my profile if your brave enough to peek at them. The before are not pretty Gail

Hey Katherine, I wanted to let you know that we have a support group that is currently meeting at the McMinnville hospital at 6:00 pm the first Thursday of each month. Next meeting will be on 5/3/07. Please feel free to join us there. We are in all stages from pre-op to several years post op so there is a lot of shared wisdom. Trisha RNY 02/02/05 322/171

I have been wondering about how much loose skin I will have when it's all said and done. I understand that if you have skin infections and document them with photos etc. with your primary physician your insurance company may pay for the plastic surgery. I am sure I will have plenty. My starting weight when I first weighed a Legacy was 450 lbs. I am 6'0.
