Hello everyone! I am 11 months post-op RNY. And on Sunday, I ran my very first 5K race in downtown Portland! I ran the entire 3.1 miles without stopping and I completed the race in 32 minutes, 29 seconds! Out of 663 runners that finished the race, I was number 388. I was soooooo proud that I ran the entire race and I came right in the middle, not last! I put a picture on my profile. Before surgery I weighed 307 pounds and today I weigh 167 pounds for a total loss of 140 pounds. I was not active before surgery at all. I have put a lot of effort in at the gym and my goal was to compete in some sort of run before my 1 year surgery date. I did it! I just wanted to gush a little bit and let everyone know what positive changes can happen in a year's time. I'm just so surprised at how much I've changed in the last year and I can't wait to see what else I can accomplish! Deanna

Deanna, Thank you for this post. Its funny how God gives you what you need when you need it. I am 8 weeks out and I feel like Im loosing so slow latley. I see changes but somedays I feel like I will never get there and maybe this is just another one of those things I try that dosent work for me. I havent lost in over a week ! but reading your story is inspiring. I do have to confess I just dont seem to motivate myself to move much more yet. I went Scuba Diving last week for the first time sence the surgery and I see changes in things like bending over and breathing at the same time stuff like that but I dont see a big change in my size yet. I am still wearing the same clothes. Now I have to admit that the clothes were pretty dam tight before surgery and now fit. ok enough of my dribble. My intent was to say THANK YOU FOR YOU POST YOU ARE A INSPIRATION Kelly

Kelly, you are so cute! I remember in the beginning I wore the same clothes for a long time. Then all the sudden my pants wouldn't stay up on me anymore so I went shopping and was amazed as how much smaller the sizes I fit into were! Then from that point on, it seemed like I was shrinking out of things right and left! It is soooooo fun to go shopping now! You will love it! You should just go try clothes on ... it's a real ego boost! I think it's wonderful you went scuba diving! That is something I've never done but always wanted to try! Congratulations to you! You will find yourself getting brave to try all sorts of things now! Deanna

Congratulations Deanna. I never have liked to run and too old to do it now. The gym is enough for me! I checked out your profile and hardly recognized your pictures. Wow 140 pounds is great. Keep up the good work. Julia
