All paperwork in (I think)!
Well, I got a call from OHSU this morning. They now have all of my paperwork to submit to my insurance company, so I should be good to go! I still may need to have an upper endoscopy, but hopefully, they can submit to my insurance without it, get me a date, and I can maybe get the endoscopy done before my surgery date. Please send me good vibes for an early to mid May date. I need to get going on this weight loss before my sweetheart catches up to me! I really needed this good news today, as Freddie is back in Alaska packing up to come back. I miss him so much.
Linda
Linda, I am in that same boat with you. The cardiology appt. (when we crossed in the waiting room) was my last hoop. My paperwork was all done on 3/21 and I spoke with Terra to let her know. Unfortunately, she forgot our conversation and I spoke with her last Thursday and she had not submitted the paperwork yet, but promised to do so right away.
So, now I just wait for the phone call with a date. Boy, I hate waiting -- but there is nothing else to do at this point. Maybe we will be scheduled at the same time since our timeline is about the same.
Hope the time passes fast for you until Freddie returns.
Shirley
That would be cool if we were there at the same time Shirley! It would be fun to have someone to walk around the halls with (well, besides Freddie). It was like old home week at OHSU on the 19th. I ran into you at Cardiology and I ran into Lisa in the elevator. It's not so bad to go to the doctor when you see folks you know!
Linda
Linda, I am just starting the journey at OHSU, and I was wondering how long all this took you. When did you first attend the informational meeting? I am so anxious to get going on this, and am having serious problems with patience. And have you seen the nutritionist and the psychologist already?
Paulette
Hi Paulette - I attended the informational meeting at OHSU on January 22nd. Part of the delay for me was the fact that my primary care doctor's transcriptionist was sick for a week and a half after I went to see him to get my letter, so I had to wait till she came back and typed up the letter to send to OHSU. I had my appointments with the NP and Nutritionist (both of whom are wonderful, by the way), on February 27th. Here the delay was that they had to send my doc's letter, etc., to my insurance and get approval for the visits. The other delay was the psych evaluation. OHSU is booked up with psych visits, so if your insurance allows you to have yours done elsewhere (and it is okay with OHSU), I would say have it done somewhere else. It looks like the fastest this all can be accomplished is about 3-4 months. I'm with you, I am SO impatient. However, this is something that is so worth it to me and everyone involved in the process has been just great, so it has made things much easier for me.
Which insurance company are you dealing with? I have Regence BC/BS of Oregon.
