Gardening

Guess what, I came home from work early yesterday. The sun made me want to do some gardening, AND I was able to do it easily! I stayed outside digging, bending, pulling weeds, repotting some plants and moving planters for about 3 hours. YES, I am sore down the back of my legs and my behind today, but so happy, as last year, that would have been impossible, to say the least. Julia

Hi Julia, if you want to do some more gardening you can come to my house! I have plenty of weeds for you! Hee, hee! I completely know what you mean though ... last year I wasn't able to keep up with my yard work and I'm really looking forward to having pretty flowerbeds this year! I'm just a month behind you on surgery dates! Are you finding that you are freezing cold? I just can't warm up lately and I'm actually looking forward to summer. I used to be hot and sweaty all the time and I dreaded summer. Now I actually want to get hot for a change! Deanna

Deanna, Sorry, the weed pulling wasn't my favorite part of my gardening experience! My knees won't let me bend them and stand back up well so I bend over at the waist to pull the weeds. That lead to the sore tush and back of my legs. I did go to Curves tonight and my legs behaved. I had very few flowers last year either and I don't think too many the year before because I couldn't do it anymore. This year will be different. Yes I do get cold and love the sun. I always have liked the warm sun even when I wieghed 321 pounds. Of course my house was close by with it's air conditioning so went out and in because being heavy was exhausting and warm in itself. I was born and raised in rainy Oregon so I tolerate the winter/springs so I can have the nice summers. You have lost so well and at goal. I can't wait to get there. Another 40 to 45 pounds should do it. Now go out and pull those weeds!! Julia

Ah, there's nothing like being out and digging in the dirt. I really believe that poem that says that one is nearer to God's heart in a garden than any place else on earth. There's just something so natural about it. Good for you for being able to work out there so long Julia! That has to feel really good. Linda

Linda, It did feel so good and the time passed so quickly I was amazed at how long I was at it. Now to buy some more planters and plants! I did stiffen up later but has not been too bad. I hope the sun and warmer weather continue so I stay in the spirit. Sounds like you are getting so close to your surgery. I guess Freddie is doing well after his. That would be wonderful to have someone in the know to go through it with you. Also wouldn't it be great if you and Shirley did have the same date. Competition you know---you guys would be racing in the halls, Or maybe Freddie can walk between the two of you and keep you going! Hope it is soon for you! Julia

Good for you Julia, I know what you mean about the bending and all. It is such a great feeling to be able to do all of this in our gardens. I am sorry about not coming to the support meeting on the 28th I completly spaced it out, I will be there for the April meeting though, if I dont space it out as well. Keep up the good work. Chrisy

Thanks Chrisy. I did very little in my flower garden last year because I couldn't but hope to change that this year. I suppose it will rain soon and put me out of the mood! Missed you at the meeting too. I will try to remind you next meeting. Enjoy the weather. Julia
