Help!!!! Anyone know of a good way to lose 25 lbs. That is the amount I have to lose before surgery. I am currently getting used to eating less so I have an idea of how much I can eat after the lap band, I am also using Weigh****cher points. Any other ideas? Sheryl

Hi Sheryl, I would suggest checking with your surgeon to see what they recommend. Mine (OHSU) gave me a 1,200 calorie diet. I stuck to it religiously and it worked like a charm! Whatever you choose, good luck to you! Sally

Sheryl - I agree - I got a 1200 calorie diet from the nutritiionist at OHSU. It's very easy to follow (actually based on the old WW exchanges) and I've been very successful in losing weight with it. It also helped that I've been living with someone who had RNY Bypass for the past month! I usually have a protein shake in the morning for breakfast, then a salad with some shrimp or tuna on it at lunch, then something like chicken breast and veggies for dinner. For snacks, I usually have an apple or a small handful of pretzels. I seem to be fairly full and I'm not suffering. I needed to lose 13 pounds, but so far have lost 22! Linda

Actually, I wasn't able to lose. I lost one pound and they still did my surgery. Still, it is in your best interest to lose as much as you can beforehand (it makes the surgery safer for you). Dr. Jan just told me 1,200 to 1,500 calories a bit like the lap band diet. After surgery I was told to try and get in around 60 grams of protein. Those were about the only requirements I had to deal with. After surgery I pretty much had to follow something similar to this: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lapband/cmsID,8014/mode,content/a,cms/ Good luck! Lori
