Week 6 and going in for a endoscope?
I have more and more trouble with pain and nausia when I eat. I have been working thru it but really seems to just be getting worse. I called Dr jan today when I tryed to eat lunch and started vomiting again. He talked about a few things and we decided to go in and take a look. I want to dropp the very expensive insurance that I bought to pay for this surgery but I dont want to if I dont know if I am going to have compliclations. So; thursday I go in and have him take a peek around to see what is going on down there. hopefully it just needs a streach. anyone else had this done? is it painful? he said I will be heavly sediated but I am not thrilled with having something down my throut.
Hi Kelly-
I have been stretched twice. You will not even know what happened, there is no pain involved at all, and in my case it allowed me to eat and drink again, so it was a blessing. You have to have someone drive you, because you will be wasted when you get done. Outside of sleeping alot that day and having to go back to liquids for a little bit, there are no negative side effects. Hope this helps.

Hi Kelly:
I had to have 2 endoscopies , the 1st one was'nt so bad, I was sedated, they found a piece of food floating up and down, the 2nd one, I gagged so bad it was'nt even funny, they found that I had an ulceration around the pouch. I went thru the vomiting and could'nt keep anything dowm, not even water or meds. (the 2nd one I was not sedated). I had surgery 7 months ago. My surgeon put me on Carafate, nasty tasting stuff. I have lost 235 lbs since Feb. 23rd, 2005, around 90 lbs since surgery. Thing's will get better, it just takes time.

Hi Kelly, I went in just last week and had an endoscopy and it doesnt hurt at all. they give you these good meds to kinda put you out so, you dont know anything. I had to have my opening going to my pouch stretched because there was some scar tissue in there and my opening was narrowing, which is why i wasnt able to digest my food or drink. afterwards you can go home. Tho, you are a bit wobbly and need someone to hold your arm and drive you home. You cant eat or drink anything after midnight the night before. Hope this helps. My daughter took me. Dr Hong did the procedure, he told my daughter that i was one of those people that might have to have it done again, in the future. KathyS.
