Hitting the Wall
I've been gone for a min but I'm back looking for advice. I'm two years out and not quite to my goal yet. What is so weird, I'm wearing average size, and most folks don't believe I weigh as much as I still do. I can't seem to get the last 69 off. For those who are two years post op what are your diet's like? Do you still drink protein shakes? How much do you exercise? What kind of exercise? I have to really battle with myself when I see others on this sight who have lost double what I have in the same amount of time...what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Andrea - where did you have your surgery done? Is there a nutritionist there that you can talk to? Keep a record of what and how much you eat and run it by him/her. Are you eating too many carbs, or do you still concentrate on getting in your protein? I think the minimum recommendation for exercise is 30/day, 5 times a week. Even just brisk walking is good.

Hi Andrea,
I feel your frustration when worry sets in that you have arrived at the rest of your life, instead of those exciting months post-op when things are happening at such a dramatic pace. Just remember though how different you are living your life now. Snorkeling and participating in group runs! I can't remember what the numbers were between year two and three, but I did notice in my Christmas photos that I did get to a different place physically in that year. It came more a pound here a pound there, but suddenly I would get in that next place.
I have a suspicion that I am absorbing more than I was before, because I think I got away with quite a bit of eating that I don't think I can get away with anymore. That is not so good because my appetite is more than it used to be. I only need/want to lose about ten pounds, but am feeling some of those old fears from when I used to think I can't do it.
I am turning to the main things I found so helpful in the beginning. Drinking water, eating a lot of protein and swimming laps. I hope they get things going for me.
Good luck to you. The fact that you are mindful and wanting to keep adding to your success (you do realize you have done an amazing job of losing ALOT of weight) is a great sign.
