Pre-op looking for a support group in Salem/Keizer

Hi there, We have an active group in the Eugene/Springfield area and get together once a month to visit, share stories, and exchange clothes that we've shrunk out of. We are getting bigger but are a small close-knit group. We welcome anyone who would like to come. If you'd like to come, our next get together will be the last Sunday in April. Good luck to you. Kim

There is a new support group that has met just two times in the Salem area. I am also a pre-op, new to OH, new to WLS and I haven't attended that support group yet. I have a phone number to call and will do that tomorrow. All I know is that it meets every other Tuesday night. I'll let you know more when I find out more. LoisN

Hi Andrea, There is a support group that meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Salem Hospital. I have been a few times and it is a nice group of people. (There is also an official one that Salem Hosp. does but it is only for those who are/have had surgery at Salem Hosp.) Hope that helps! Sally

This is a new support group that came about when the official Salem Hospital group became "official SH" and those with surgery other places needed to set up a new meeting. The next meeting of this new group is tomorrow night - Tuesday, at 6:30 in Room 1C in the Com Building at Salem Hospital at 6:30. Hope to see you there. Lois

Hi Salem/Eugene Support Groups!!! I have gone to the group that meets at Salem Hospital on the 3rd Wednesdays, I am not driving yet, so I won't be able to go tomorrow.....Shucks I would love to see everyone and show them my little scars on my tummy from havin Lap Rny. I was afraid it might become open..... I am also interested in the new group that formed as an off shoot of the other Salem Hospital group. Sooo hopefully I might be able to go to that one in a couple of weeks. Also I would love to attend the group down in Eugene area sounds like they are having too much fun. Since I am just 2 weeks post-op I haven't left my house much yet. I am happpy to be doing so well. Thanks Christina

The support group that met last night (Tuesday) in the COM Bldg at Salem Hosp will be meeting every other Tuesday night - in Conference Room 1B at 6:30. COM stands for Campus Outpatient Medical Bldg, I think. It's across the street, out the front main door of the hospital and a little to the north. It was a good meeting and I will be going to it again and again - but have my surgery the next time it meets. Try it out.
