Hello everyone, Ok, I hate to ask but... any suggestions for getting moving? I am doing good on the diet lifestyle change end, but am having trouble motivating myself to move. Definitely lagging in the aerobic type exercise department. I am ok doing my 15 min video called Synergetics, I do that before work no prob... but getting walking or swimming or something else... nope... Ideas? Smacks upside the head? Inspiration? Thanks! Michele

Do you like to dance? If so, put on your favorite music and go for it! Find something that you enjoy doing. It will help you get motivated! You can do it!!! Joy

You're doing fine...do you feel like your getting a workout with your tape??? If you do you are. If not step it up a notch...make bigger, faster movements. Do your tape twice. Add some walking in place, dancing whatever little by little before or after your tape. Park further out in the parking lot, take stairs when possible, dance during commercials(thats my kids favorite!!). If I don't do my "serious" workout in the morning I have a hard time getting it done later, but adding little bits here and there will help just as much as a consecutive workout and much less daunting. Getting a pedometer might be fun too. Make a game out of it...try to get more steps in everyday or week. Also, remember to do some weight training. You MUST build muscle so you burn fat 24/7. Aerobic exercise is not the most important thing to do. Changing our body composition is more important. Changing the fat to muscle should be our focus. A pound of fat is the size of our head...a pound of muscle is the size of our fist. Things that make you say HMMMM. If I can hep you with some specific exercises let me know. I'm a certified personal trainer. KEEP YOUR CHIN UP AND JUST KEEP MOVING!!!

Michele, tis the season to be out in the yard working. Do you have any garden areas that need weeding? mulching? lawns to mow. On the nice days, try to get outside, as it is much easier to get moving out in the fresh air. Walking on the beach takes more energy than walking on the sidewalks..... I do water aerobics and love every minute of it. Does not even feel like a workout, but you work EVERY muscle in your body. Borrow someones dog and take walks ..... Hope this helps. Joy, I love to dance (when no one's watching lol) so I will try that, thanks so much! Deanna, I have a dvd i've been trying to do a few days a week after my Synergetics called the Lotte Berk Method, I think she was a ballet dancer before becoming an exercise guru... does this ring a bell? It's supposed to build muscle, but not sure... I only know that 10-15 minutes of the dvd kicks my butt lol!!! I will definitely be bugging you about some exercises, thanks Lisa, it's awesome that you get in a pool, I am Terrified of putting on a bathing suit in public still... isn't that sad? On the upside, I live across the street (literally) from the local community center which, I found out today after reading your post, offers a few water aerobics classes! Thanks I will try a little of each suggestion ( well, maybe wait a month or so for water aerobics and the dreaded bathing suit shopping) but it is so easy to forget that simply moving makes a difference. Thank you all so much for responding... now, to get off my butt and away from the computer and towards the treadmill... lol You guys rock! Michele

Michele I would buy a pair of those workout pants that are like peddle pushers and wear those in the pool if I were you, and a big tshirt over a suit would do the tric****il you are comfertable. You will be suprised how many other large ladys are in the pool to Kelly

I would wear spandex leggings and a "qwik wik" type top to teach water ex classes anything but cotton (clogs the filters)I don't wear a swim suit either. People really won't care..you're there to to something good for yourself just like they are.... Water ex and weights are my all time favs. I miss the pool HORRIBLY!!!! P.S. you will probably find out that you will be the norm and not the exception in the pool!!! I haven't heard of your Guru...but that doesn't mean you're not doing something GREAT...Keep at it and try to switch things up a little, Your body with become accustom to what you're doing in about 3-4 weeks. I assume your DVD is longer than 15 mins...you can do the first 15mins the first day, then continue the next and on til you have it done then start again or use another tape. Thats why I LOVE the water...it is ALWAYS a different workout even when you do the same movements!!!

What about doing your video a couple of times during the day? Walking three times for 10 minutes counts! I do the pool, too! And I'm 380 pounds (was 425). I have no problems and love the freedom I get when I'm in the water -- love it so much I actually hate having to get out! Lori
