Big WOW moments!
There have been many WOW moments for me since my surgery in 2005, but this is the one I have been waiting to experience. My husband and I just returned from a trip to New Zealand for a visit with relatives. Before surgery, air travel was uncomfortable and embarrassing. My large body barely fit in the economy class seats and I was unable to put the tray down all the way when the meal arrived. I invaded my neighbor's space and sensed their displeasure with the lack of boundaries between us. I dreaded squeezing down the aisle towards the bathroom and barely fit in the tiny space in the toilet.
Imagine my joy when I gingerly walked down the aisle to my seat, buckled myself in, pulled the seat belt tight and looked down to view space on my seat on both sides of my body! I immediately pulled down my tray! OMG! Not only did it set all the way down, but there was a huge empty space between my stomach and the tray! My husband smiled as I giggled and told him about my experience. The man sitting next to me had no clue. Little did he know how lucky he was to be sitting comfortably next to the new me.
Another WOW moment was just around the corner. When it was time to use the "loo", I slipped down the aisle and easily fit into the small space provided for my "relief". I closed the bathroom door and was amazed at how much more spacious it appeared!
Arriving in NZ, I had the thrill of watching my relatives walk passed me, not recognizing the new me. I approached them and their mouths dropped open. They had no idea that I was the same person who had visited 7 years ago. The visit was wonderful. We walked for miles, visiting the beautiful North Island. We ate good food ( I returned home with no weight gain!) WOO HOO!
I will always remember this trip as my most appreciated WOW moment. I am so thankful for this second chance at life! I just wanted to share it with those who could truly appreciate my happiness. I will post some pictures on my profile soon.
G'day, Mates!

Congratulations! That must have been a great trip, I'm envious. Not only to be able to visit relative but in a part of the world I would love to see. Then not to have gained any wait on the trip, how cool is that.
The last time I flew I was very uncomfortable because of my size, and now I'm even bigger. It must have felt awsome to be so comfortable.
Again congrats.
