What hoops are next?
I have Kaiser insurance and have jumped through all the hoops so far. I just did a ultrasound on my gallbladder and will do blood test in a week or so. I have lost over my 10% and am keeping good food and exercise logs. They said the next case conference in 20th of this month. I am wondering does this generally mean I'm close? How long now? Thank you
Carrie - where are you planning to have surgery? Have you already begun the preliminaries with surgical team, or are you awaiting approval from your insurance to start the process? I imagine the timing is a little different for all of us. For me, I had to attend an info session at OHSU in January. Then I had to get my medical records and a letter from my doc recommending me for the surgery. Once all that was in, they scheduled me for my initial consultation with the Nurse Practitioner and the Dietician, which I had on Feb 27. I now need to lose 5% of my weight (almost there already!) as a requirement for my insurance, and also to make things easier for the doc to operate. Once that is done, I will need to have one more blood test, verify my weight loss, and then they will submit for final approval to my insurance. When that is approved, it will be 2-3 weeks till my surgery. If you have to have all these approvals ahead of time, perhaps your wait after seeing the doc won't be as long. Chin up - time does fly!

Carrie:
I also have Kaiser, have had the surgery, they will review your case, then you will get an appt with one of the surgeons. You will probably have atleast 1 more appt with Julie and Brenda. Don't worry, you are getting close. It took me 18 months to go thru the whole process. Any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
Good luck,
Peggy
