Maybe you could self pay (for psych. report) and speed up the process?

I think I may call Susan today and ask if it's okay to have the evaluation here in Eugene. If I can remove one from the queue, it might be helpful! Linda

Wow, sounds like things are going well for you! I'd look into using another psychologist if possible. That may speed things up. But still, the whole process seems to be going pretty fast and smooth. Hang in there. It's almost time you will be on the loser's bench.

Hi guys - I'm awaiting insurance approval at OHSU - just wanted to say that a friend and I both experienced the same holdup with OHSU psych. I made a lot of phone calls - lots - I was definitely the squeaky wheel. I was done with everything for a whole month before I got seen by psych. Linda, we'll likely be on the same timeline, so it's nice to meet you! Tamee =)

Hi Linda - I'm pre-op at OHSU as well - I'm new to OH.com, so bear with me - i thought i posted a reply, but i must have made a mistake. i work at OHSU and like to think i'm well connected, but even with all my phone calls and nagging and working the system, my psych eval didn't happen until seven weeks after my initial consult - when they finally did call me to schedule, three weeks after my intake, they had a four week wait. having said that, i was VERY happy with the doc (tom kern) and he told me right then at the end of our visit that he was going to recommend me for surgery - so i didn't have to wait on pins and needles to find out if i "passed" i hope this resolves for you quickly! best regards, tamee

Hi Tammee! Nice to meet you. I just had my consult on Tuesday, but have had the approval for it and the psych visit for about 2-3 weeks now. I guess they are really backed up. I've waited this long, it won't kill me to wait a bit longer. Linda

Hi Tamee, I work at OHSU too and I had RNY surgery 10 days ago!!! I know that there are alot of us going through the approval process now that it is not an exclusion in our plan. Good luck to you. Once they submitted the info to the powers that be it was only days before the approval so....get ready!!!

Linda I had my initial appointment toward the first of Feb. and My psych eval isn't until Mar 19th. I don't know how I jumped ahead of Bil with this, maybe it because I'm old and they don't want me to die of old age before they get my money. Anyway at the Feb. meeting I was telling everyone that I had to have a cardio check. thats scheduled for 3/5. so hopefully I will get it all done and get a date within a month. Good luck Randy

I went up today for my psych eval at OHSU. It took just under 2 hrs and at the end of the appt she told me that I was an excellent candidate for the surgery. So that hurdle is over now. Guess I got lucky... my Nurse Practitioner/Nutrition visit was on 2/20/07 and the psych appt today. Because of my age (60), they require a cardiologist consult. That is scheduled for 3/19/07 -- that will be the final appt before my paperwork is submitted to BC/BS. I am really getting excited -- it is getting close now. Hope you get your psych eval scheduled soon. Shirley PS) good luck with Fast Freddie
