Anyone had it done at bay bariatrics, by Dr. Steve Tersigni
There web site says it has the lap band for 10,000. This is what the site list the price at.
DETAILS:
Surgeon $2000
Assistant $500
Anesthesia $1000
Day Surgery facility (including band cost) $6500
These fees do not include consultation, pre-op tests, Education Class, or other miscellaneous charges.
Now my questions for anybody who has had it done there is about the after care and the cost not included in his price plan. What about fills? Price?
Thanks
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
I had Lapband done by Dr. Tersigni in Sept 05. He is running a special now at
$ 10,000 that includes 3 adjustments with in the year of followup. The education class cost me $300.00 out of pocket not in the 10,000 fee. The swallow test after sugery was done there at the hospitial. The cost was to the hospitial I can't remember the cost. I had the pre-op tests done through my primary doctor so my insurance would pick it up. The fills are around $ 249.00 after the the first 3. Again it can be ran through your insurance. Remember the mileage to get there and back and any over night stays at motels can be tax deductable. Marilyn
Nancy,
My husband and sister in law both had lap band surgery with Dr. Tersigni. Both surgeries were perfomed as an out patient procedure. Patients leave the surgery center with a RX for Loratab elixor for pain management. We also recommend a heating pad to place on your stomach after surgery.Patients are required to stay one night in a local motel and then go to the hospital for a swallow test the next day. Patients are then free to return home. Some of our lap band patients have their surgery performed in the hospital and then spend one night there. The out patient fee is $10,000 plus LABS, EKG, CONSULTATION FEE AND EDUCATION COURSE. If Dr. Tersigni feels you need more observation he can admit you to the hospital for a one night stay. A one night stay in the hospital adds about $1,000 to your case fee. The majority of his cases don't need a night in the hospital and are very comfortable at the Red Lyon. Dr Tersigni is a wonderful surgeon and a very spiritual, kind man. Of our 900 plus cases, I don't know any one who did'nt feel comfortable with him.
I'm impressed by your research and knowledge. I'm sure you will make a wonderful choice.

Hi Nancy. It was a day surgery. I was out of there by 1:00pm. I stayed over at a local motel. Then had swallow test done in the morning at the hospital. I don't remember much pain. I tried to walk as soon as I could to get the gas out of me. My husband did say I was in some pain when we got home. I slept in a recliner for a couple of days. Dr. Tersigni gives you liquid pain medicine. I started to take it as prescibed every four hours. I wouldn't let my self run into pain. I had two bottles of it. I think I used about 3/4 of one. Dr. Tersigni is a good Doctor, his staff are wonderful.

DR Tersigni is great, I was banded on 12/29/06. I was self pay and it was $10,000. There is a education class that is $300 and a consult fee of $200, with the eduction class you get a bunch of samples and lots of info. It was a day surgery. The following day I had a swallow test at the Hospital and it was $200 but my insurance cover most of that.
I live in Central Oregon and it is about a 6 hour drive for me, I love Dr. Tersigni and the staff and would do it again in a minute. Give them a call, they are great and very helpful.
Best of luck to you, Karen
Also with Dr. Tersigni - in January 2006. The swallow test was $200.00 for the hospital and, I hear it will be $80.00 additional for the doctor who conducted it.
I was happy both with the Doctor, (who was stressed the other day) but is usually pleasant but professional. I've never had any negative feedback from ANY staff member - they show respect, kindness and patience - at least that's been my experience. As someone said, first three fills are free - many need three or fewer anyway.
You can buy protein rich foods and vitamins there but I've never been pushed to do so.
About a 3 hour drive for me - and well worth it.
