I am 9 months post op and down 135 pounds but for the last few weeks have been in terrible pain every time I eat. Food goes in the right way and comes out the right way but it just hurts like heck as it goes through. It doesnt seem to matter what it is, as long as it is food it hurts, liquids are fine. I was in the hospital over Thanksgiving with a kinked bowel and the pain is similar but not constant and in a different area. Good news is that I go in Thursday for an Upper GI (oh joy!) and hopefully that will tell the docs something. Please say a little prayer for me. Jill

Maybe you might have an ulcer. That would be painful, but would still allow foods to go through properly. It's good to hear that you have the upper GI scheduled so you can find out for sure. Best of luck and awesome job on the weight loss! Linda

Jill Pls call your Drs office and make them aware of this. It may be nothing, could be something. But, what I've learned through all this is, don't wait, call. This is not meant to scare you. Just tell them the symptoms. Good luck Nancy

Hi Jill, Good luck with the upper GI. I had one 2 weeks ago and it showed what we thought was a narrowing at my outlet (stoma) which actually turned out to be an ulcer and inflammation/redness from the ulcer. This was found on the endoscopy that I had last week. I have been taking Prilosec and Carafate since then and the pain is better, I just have to be very careful to eat slowly and chew well still (as we all do). If I eat too fast, I will get pain as the food leaves. The upper GI isn't that bad though. Mine was done within 10-15 minutes and I was able to do all of my pictures standing up and the barium wasn't that bad either. Let us know how the upper GI goes.
