Well I'm still bumping along. I've been working so hard on eating properly and rewiring my brain...and it has sort of gone haywire the last few days. Not off the charts, but not as well as I would like. That said, I've lost over 27 pounds since my appointment with Susan Fee on January 2nd! Pretty much all I'm waiting on now is the psychological evaluation which is scheduled for early March. I'm told I will likely be able to schedule surgery for 3-4 weeks after that is done but I'm thinking I would like to wait until May. Work is busy right now and I'm going to be an aunt again in a couple of days. It's a little too much going on at once I guess. Tammy

WOW!! That is sooo great!! I too am going through OHSU and I have to say that I have not lost 27 pounds prior to surgery....probably about 20. My surgery is on Tuesday so time is nearly up for me. Everything that I have heard suggests that the more weight you lose before the surgery the safer it is for you....Way to go!!!

Great job you guys! Tammy, keep it up, seriously, the more you lose the easier recovery is :P Debra, good luck with your surgery... Dr. O'Rourke was great... businesslike but very very good. Everything went really smoothly for me at OHSU, hope you guys do even better Michele

Just wondering....Did you have to do a three day clears only diet prior to surgery? I don't have to so I wondered if this is surgeon preference or what. Just npo after midnight. Hey also, what was the measurement across my hips for? I was puzzled and forgot to ask. It is nice to hear that Dr. O'Rourke was great.... I thought he might have been really businesslike because I am a nurse so it is actually good to hear that he treated me like the rest!!! Thank you for the well wishes... Debra

Debra, No, there is no pre-op diet at all except the low fat high protein one... they want you to reduce your liver size, but there is no liquid diet component... it's totally surgeon preference. The hip measurement is a curiousity to me as well lol... if you find out, let me know :P I will try to remember to ask at my appointment on March 5th He isn't much of a hand holder, but he is thorough beyond belief, and he was really great the day of surgery... reassuring and confidence inspiring in one. I'll be cheering for you! Make sure you let us know how you are doing ok? Oh, and don't be afraid to use the pain pump lol... they ended up taking mine away because I was only using it every couple of hours and it was set for every three minutes ROFL!!! It took way longer for the liquid drugs to kick in :P Michele
