Just got home from endoscopy

Well, the good news is no stricture and no narrowing. The bad news is I have an ulcer. The narrowing that was seen on the upper GI on Friday was swelling from the ulcer. I have quite a bit of inflammation there right at the anastomosis/stoma frrom the ulcer itself. So the GI doc put me on Prilosec 40 mg twice a day in hopes that will heal it. I have my 3 month postop appointment with Dr. Gorrin so it will be good to get his input but I am just glad I didn't have to get a dilation of the stoma done. On one side note, a funny thing happened when they were prepping me for the EGD. I am laying on my stretcher minding my own business after getting the IV started. Then, on my left they wheel in a patient who has just had his tests done and there was already a person on my right as well. Well, they both had colonoscopies done and were passing LOTS of gas. Oh boy was that pleasant .... and of course the nurses were encouraging these people to pass gas (of course this is a good thing for THEM). Later, I laughed with the nurses about it.

Kim, I am sorry to hear you have an ulcer. That must be uncomfortable to say the least! Hope the Prilosec works well for you. Take it easy. Hope to see you Saturday afternoon. Julia

Thanks, Julia. I am sure the meds will work. It actually feels better this week than it did last week and I almost cancelled the endoscopy. Boy am I glad that I didn't!!!

Kim.. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better and I am sorry to hear about your ulcer. I certainly hope that the meds work for you and it all gets better soon. It sure seems like you have been through the ringer post op but you have kept such a good attitude and that will take you far! Continue your positive thinking and getting better! Tara

Awww, thanks, Tara. I think a positive attitude is the only thing that is getting me thru all of these setbacks .... well that and the 67 pounds of weight I've lost. hee hee. I hope to see you on Saturday.

Hey Kim, Boy, have you been through H*LL & BACK!! Things just HAVE TO GET BETTER!!!! As for all the gas those poor folks had, been there, done that! I remember the pain & bloating from having no food/no liquids & lots of air in my system. I was too embarrassed to "let loose" until I could make it to the bathroom.....then it was all air for about 5 mintues!!! Have fun on Saturday.......I will miss you all! Jackie

Hi Jackie We will miss you on Saturday, too. I sure wish you would be able to come, but there is always next month! If everyone likes having it here, we just may keep it here for a while. It is a nice big room and lots of room to mingle. No time constraints such as with a restaurant. You are sure right though, I have been trough Hell and back! I am due for a break!! One would think with only being able to have stage 2 diet again (yogurt, SF pudding & jello, and soups) that I would have lost a ton of weight over the last week and a half ... nope, stalled out!! GRRRR. Oh well, can't win them all I guess.

Hi, Joann, Elephant gas!! I never thought of that, but that is too funny. As far as Saturday, I bet there will be at least 30 people there. I will put another post out there today asking for a head count. That will help everyone to know how much of everything to bring. See ya there!!
