3 day pre op no food

Ok Tuesday starts my 3 days with no food before surgery. ewww this is going to be sucky for some reason I am fuzzy on this subject. can I have coffee with no cream? can I have some sugar in it? I need Ideas guys. all I can think of is jello popcicles chicken broth water I got some proteen drink last night and what do I mix it with during this time? can I have milk? I dont think so

Maybe ask your doctor what the reason for this is. Few doctors require something so drastic just before surgery. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. Nothing after midnight was all that was required of me. Ask for a liver biopsy during the surgery. It is a critical piece of information for post op eating and, especially, alcohol consumption in the future. best, tee

hi tee how are you. I will but when I took the pre op class they were pretty antimate about it. guess I just assumed that it was the same for everyone. how are you doing?

Kelly I am just about done with my liquid diet and it sucks!! But everytime I wanted to eat something I am thinking that I am doing this for ME. It realy helped me. But after surgery tom. I guess I will have nothing but IV so that is going to be the hard part and then jus****er!! We are just being our journey!! We will make it through and we will like the finished product!! wow tomarrow,, how are you doing? you are good sam right? you will be gone by the time I get there on friday. to bad we are closer in times we could hang out did you drink coffee the last few days? I just got back from the store with cup o noodle soup I will strain the noodles and stuff off of, and juice, got my proteen yesterday at GNC its not to bad. got some soups for after surgery and stuff my husband can prepare while I am gone. dont forget you chap stick I hear its pretty inportant let me know how you are Kelly

Hi Kelly! Your week is here!! Yeah!! I'm not sure about the why they ask for the three day fast, but I do remember doing it. It wasn't so hard for me, because I was so happy it was finally happening. If the wording is "clear liquids" the rule is you have to be able to see through it. I'm thinking protein drinks might not apply. Unlike all the other crazy diets I did over the years, at least this time it was connected to having my surgery and felt like it had some real promise of results. I can barely remember any of the early pre-op post-op stuff, though at the time it seemed I would never forget it! I agree with Tee about asking for a liver biopsy. I didn't think to do that, and I think it would be valuable information to have since they are in there anyways. I don't have a specific reason to justify getting one now, but could have easily had one during surgery. Patty

all I have to do is ask for a liver biopsy? what will it tell me and the DR? I will talk to Dr Jan and see if he will guess it wouldent hurt right. Patty Im so nervious,, and excited. I will get thru the fast I am sure just fine,, They did say I could have my proteen drink with water,, no one is answering the coffee questions. now usually I cannot see thru my coffee but if it would help I would be glad to weaken it maybe that is an Idea, I took a long tonight and it was nice, I think I am getting a yeast infection to that really sucks its been weeks sence I was on antibiotics but guess its catching up with me so I will deal with it as it comes. Oh man I cant belive its almost here I cant wait to be a looser hope you can come to the hospital but if things are crazy I understand Kel
