Surgery Postponed...

Hey everyone, I had my post-op appointment today & Dr Umbach found a rash. He also didn't like the fact that I had fluid in my lungs & was on an anti-biotic. Too many chances to take, surgery has to be postponed. I thought I was going to die! To come so close...it was like a punch in the gut. My new date is now March 7. Another 3 weeks to wait. Jackie

Oh Jackie ,I so sorry that is not a good thing to hear. If you have that going on ,you realy need to get better, we want you arround for the party girl. Keep smiling . Jo Ann S

How great that your surgeon respected your health so much to delay surgery! I'm sorry you're going to have to go through everything again but that is certainly sign of a surgeon who cares about you first, cutting second. Heal up and get ready! You're almost there! Lori

Lori, Yes, after my shock & disappointment settled down a bit, I did have to realize that even though all plans have been set (time off approved for my job & Ole's, etc.), it was in my best interest to wait. Dr U even hung out while Kathy & I worked out the details for moving the date. I guess if he didn't care...he would have walked away to his next patient...who was waiting. Jackie

Oh Jackie, I'm so sorry, but better to be safe than sorry. The fluid in the lungs is especially scary. Get yourself well gal! We'll be praying for you on the 7th. Linda

Thanks Linda, Actually, he was more worried about the rash...if any infection were to get onto the band & it was put into me....no way to heal it, it would have to be removed. So, as you said, better safe than sorry & another surgery to replace an infected band. Jackie

So sorry for the setback, Jackie. Just remember he is taking care of YOU by postponing it. The last thing you need are complications from surgery being undertaken with you having an infection going on. This is a good thing!!

Thanks Kim, You are so right....it just took me several hours of having a Pitty Party talking to Ole & my sis-in-law Kat, & reading all the replies to my post from you wonderful friends out there....to get back on track. I plan on still losing as much weight as I can pre-op, even though he asked for 10-15 & as of yesterday, I had lost 15.3 lbs. I haven't been able to work out at the pool, do to my yucky cold & congestion. I have been trying to work out by walking the halls of our building on my breaks, but I begin to have a coughing fit after 10 minutes. So, all the loss has been do to drinking the shakes & basically keeping the calories down to 1200. Jackie
