Rita - any time you have surgery, they usually have an IV line into you filling you with fluids so that your body doesn't dehydrate. Also, if you have laparoscopic surgery, they blow you up full of gas so they can see your organs. It is natural that you would gain a bit from this. Give it about a week, and I'll bet you're down 4-5 pounds. Linda

Yes, that is completely normal. I had gained 9 pounds in the hospital when I had my surgery and it took a few days to lose those 9 pounds and then I proceeded on. I am down 59 pounds since surgery on 11/22 (10 weeks). You can do it!!

Hi, Rita! On the morning of my surgery (1-3-07), I weighed 287 pounds. Two days later, when I came home, I was up to 300 pounds.... I had gained 13 pounds in the hospital. Within two weeks, I was down to about 275 pounds. Keep hangin' on... it'll start melting off. I've been at a plateau now for a couple of weeks, and getting a little nervous myself. Keep your spirits up! Jana

Rita, I had the exact same thing happen... gained in the hospital (about 7 lbs) and started dropping a few weeks out... I'm a month and a few days out and down 35 lbs. But, it started slow, and then dropped fast for a few weeks. Just hang in like they told you, drink drink drink and work on protein. Michele
