Okay, all you experienced WLS post-ops out there. I am a nervouse wreck. I'm feeling like I won't lose another pound. I'm 1 month post-op Lap RNY, lost 25 pounds in the first couple of weeks, and literally not an ounce since. What can I do? I'm trying to be patient and tell myself "it'll pass," but that only worked for the first week or so, and now I'm really stressed out. Thanks for letting me vent! Jana

Hi Jana... I am almost 8 weeks post rny and I was in your same shoes!!! and kind of still am! I lost for the first 2 weeks then for the following 2 weeks I did not loose a pound. I was also nervous and thinking what did I do to myself! It did pass kind of... I still loose for a week or so then stall for about 2 then loose again. I have to say that is not what I thought it would be but I guess as long as I am still loosing its ok with me. I am a pretty slow looser . At almost 8 weeks I am ONLY at 29 pounds but then again when have a ever lost almost 30 pounds in 2 months. Good luck and it WILL pass but I know thats hard to believe right now. My only advise would be to keep exercising as much as possible and keep the protein up. Keep your chin up! Tara

Hi Jana, I had my RNY on 11/22 and I have been fortunate to lose 59 pounds so far. However, I started at 357 and I do know that the more weight you have to lose, the faster that it comes off. I also stalled at about 2 weeks out, for about 2 weeks. This stall was right at the time when I was transitioning from stage 2 diet to stage 3 and I think that is why I stalled. I have also found recently that I've stalled again but I think it is because I've had more carbs than I did in the months prior. I have been having whole wheat crackers and whole wheat toast so I am going to try and cut down on the carbs. I was frustrated too until someone suggested that I measure. I took my measurements and sure enough, even though I'd not lost any pounds in those 2 weeks, I had lost inches. So, in 10 weeks, I've lost 59 pounds AND 27 inches from all over. If you are not measuring already, I very highly recommend it. Measure your neck, arms, bust, waist, hips, and thighs and do this every couple of weeks. I bet you will also see that you are losing inches. Good luck to you!

Jana - I'm still pre-op, but have been on enough weightloss plans in my life to tell you that plateaus are just a fact of life. I have starved myself on Jenny Craig, Weigh****chers, Diet Center, etc. At first, you lose really well, then you get stuck for a bit. Eventually, it all starts moving again. You'll be okay - hang in there. 25 pounds in the first couple of weeks is AWESOME! Your body is probably just pausing to say, what the heck just happened? Linda

I found that my body would be dropping about five pounds a week and then it seemed to need a period to just rest. As long as I kept my behavior the same whether I was losing or not - the pounds would start to drop again and it all averaged out to be a continual downward trend. The pound dropping just can't be a constant every day every week thing. I think sometimes the body has to just stop and take a breather, and then with continued good behavior to will start to give it up again. I can promise you that you are not doing anything "wrong". Get in your protein and water goals daily and you will be fine. Losing 25 pounds in one month is amazing!!! I would never suggest the old "stop weighing yourself" because I have weighed myself every day for the last three years. I found it to be fun to see the days it dropped, and on the days and weeks it didn't I would think to myself "O.K. it is still happening just not in the numbers right now". Patty

Jana- I'm 10 months out, and I can't even count how many "Stalls" I've had. You will have them at least once a month, it seems. Take deep breaths You didn't go through this surgery for nothing, you won't fail Your body will stall because it goes into a life-saving mode, where it thinks you're starving to death and it wants to save your life Even when you're stalled, you're losing inches. You will see your clothing getting looser, even though the pounds slowed down... Like the others said, just keep the protein and water coming in. SIP SIP SIP, is what my saying was... SIP SIP SIP (because I would forget to keep drinking all day long). It WILL pass Rebecca M., 5'8" 269/161/155?
