My sister had RNY in Ok. and has not done well at all..long story, so I dont want to go that route, (big chicken) anyway, has anyone heard of Dr. Street in Medford and any comments?? I want to make sure I do my homework, I want the right Dr. Any help would be greatly appreciated! And my big question, does it hurt for the fills with the Lap band?? Thanks

Welcome to this group Sheri. I had RNY at Klamath Falls with Dr. Mirande. I highly recommend him and he does the lap bands. I have been very happy with my RNY and no real problems. I know 2 people who had their surgeries in Medford, don't know which surgeon they had though. They had RNY surgery and are doing very well. I do not have the mediport, but as a nurse, have accessed them and a local anesthetic can be used that is sprayed on the site to numb it. I THINK the pain is quite tolerable. Julia

Thanks Julia for the warm welcome! Do you find it hard to get to appts. driving to Kl.Falls?? I had originally thought of there but was afraid it would be difficult to get back and forth. Thanks again!!

I did have some snow a couple of times we went, when I went for surgery and at one week out and one month out. After that is was summer and much better. The last time I went was in September and was to go back to Dr. Mirande in December or January but could never make an appt. when the weather was nice, either here or there. I am having no problems so now have my next appt. in March which may not be good either. If not, I can get my brother to take me in his 4 wheel drive. It is a concern, that is for sure. Julia

Sorry, never heard of Dr. Street. Mine was with Dr. Tersigni in Coos Bay (North Bend) - where a co-worker also went. I don't know yet about fills

Im two years out lap band with Dr.Tersigni in North Bend. I love my band, see my profile for before and after. the fills donot hurt, and only take a minute or two.Since the needle goes into the port all you feel is the part that goes into the skin and they numb that. I know at least 6 people who have gone to see Dr. Tersingi and have been happy with the process. Dont know if you are self pay or not but he was running a special for $10,000 it was posted on his web site. Baybariatics.com Good luck and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I had surgery in Coos Bay with Dr. Tersigni, I live in Central Oregon and it is a 6 hour drive for me, but it is worth it. The staff is great and Dr. Tersigni is a great Dr. I think it would be worth checking this office out. I had lap band on Dec 29 and going for a fill next week. Best wishes to you. Karen

Can't help with the surgeon info (I went to Legacy Good Sam) but the fills aren't too bad. People do pass out sometimes (sometimes just because they see the needle -- which is rather large but its going into the port, not your body. A good fill doc numbs the area with lidocane or emla cream before the shot. I've actually had 6 fills and I, personally, haven't had a problem with any of them. You're right. Keep up on the homework, though. Take care, Lori
