hello

Hi, I was told about this site by Jackie F ,thank you Jackie, I went to a meeting that was put on by the Portland people . I called to see how soon I would be getting my first appt, and they said they had about 80 people on the list and their booking way into March . So I may be called in 3 weeks or so. Is any one else thinking of going to Portland for surgery?

Jackie, I will have surgery Feb 16th in portland at good sam. I started this process in aug so it didnt take tooo long although i didnt feel that way in the process seemed like forever before I could see Dr and all that stuff we have to go thru. Plus I had to switch insurance plans along the way. welcome to our little group. hope you keep posting we love to hear how its going Kelly

Hi Jo Ann - sorry I had to run this morning, but my new dishwasher is in and I am so excited! Oh DEAR! I went to the OHSU meeting on the 22nd. Filled out my forms and faxed them in right away and then had my doc fax my letter and records. I hope it won't be that long of a wait. When did you send your stuff in? Linda

I went to the meeting at the Red Lion on Coberg road on the 15th and mailed my papers the next day. I should call my doc I guess and have him fax my file in ,but I don't know where to tell him to fax them, or if thats what I should do. It sure would save a lot of time .Are you going to have your surgery here Linda ? Thanks for the note and injoy that new dishwasher. Jo Ann

Hi Jo Ann, I'm working with OSHU I got all my stuff done nurse prat, nutrtionist, and phy eval etc... done first of Jan and now waiting for Ins Co, to say yes or no. Terra from OSHU said it looked good and it usally takes about 30 days for them to decided anything, but after that it takes about 3 weeks to get a surgery date she thought March for me??? Are you planning to go to OSHU? Best of luck and welcome!

Oh dear. Sounds like things will be slow. I was so hoping to have surgery by mid-March, but it sounds like that won't happen. I may have to wait for summer. I'm planning a trip to the east coast in mid-to late April, and can't have surgery too close to that. Guess I'll have to wait till afterwards. Bummer, but at least I'm in the queue. Linda

Hi Linda ,I'm looking to go to Portland to Legacy, as they said i will go there for sure if Medicare is going to pay for it. What is OSHU, sorry brain checked out on that one. I'm new ha ha Jo Ann

Oh! OHSU is Oregon Health Science University. I thought they had said that it would be about 2-3 weeks till we could get our consult, then another few weeks till surgery, provided we lost our prescribed amount of weight. I will put myself on lettuce and water if it will mean getting in there to get my surgery! Well, okay, I'll try to be a little healthier than that, but I WILL lose the weight. I'm hoping to be losing and feeling better by the time I fly out of here in mid-April. It will be great to fit in a plane seat more comfortably. Linda
