Anyone Near Newport On The Coast?

Hi. Just wondering if there are folks who live near Newport, Oregon? I read this board all the time and note that most of the activities are in the Portland area. My husband and I have both had wls and would love to meet with other folks -- but we live so far away from Portland. Is there anyone out there from our neck of the woods? Cindy P.

Hi Cindy, There are a bunch of us from the Eugene/Springfield area too and you are welcome to join in on any of our activities. We usually get together once a month. My mom lives in Waldport and knows 2 people she works with in Newport that have had or are having surgery (in Feb.). She works at the Lincoln County courthouse - do you know anyone there? If you like, you can message me and I can try to put you in touch with them!

Wendy S.: I "think" I replied to you by using the contact button. But, in case that didn't work -- I AM INTERESTED in meeting your mom's co-workers if they are up for it. I had RNY in 7/04 and my husband had it 11/06 by Dr. Robert Read in Corvallis. Our surgeon does have a monthly support group that we can attend -- but it's in Corvallis. I am hoping to find enough folks in Newport who want to get together that maybe we could do our own mini-support get togethers. Cindy P.

Hi Cindy - I'm not far from you and work in Newport. (in fact, just got back from Fred Meyers!) I had lap band surgery with Tersigni on 1/15. I know there's at least one other (but don't think she's on-line) and one possibly pending. Good to hear from you! Linda Portland is just too far! Did you notice a meeting to be held in McMinnville soon (2/3) not quite as bad, hm? And isn't it beautiful out today? Looks like summerd!

Actually, yes I WOULD be interested! Tersigni is in North Bend / Coos Bay. The only problem I have with group meeting is that I work three part time jobs and travel quite a bit. I'd love to try though!
