Hi, I had a very proximal RNY in 2004 in Washington that has not gone well and am going to have a revision surgery in Oregon. Looking into the DS and Distal RNY options. Both parents and my sister had DS in 2004 and have done well, except for a lot of bad gas and diarrhea! Do all DS people have this? Any info would be helpful- Also surgeon info for Oregon revisions would be great. Anyone out there asked Medicare to pay for there revision? Thanks, Anne

Hi Anne, I had a proximal RNY and it has gone well for me so far. I would post your question to the DS forum. They would be able to answer any and all questions for you. Good luck.

Hi Tara, Proximal RNY is the most conservative of all the RNY type bypasses. That means the least amount is bypassed of the intestine. Mine was super conservative, barely any bypassed at all, but it was all Medicaid would approve, thus my revision. Thanks, Anne

Anne, Nope, not all DS people have bad gas and diarrhea. I do occasionally have bad gas, depending on if I eat too much white flour products, but I actually have problems with constipation more than diarrhea. Come on over to the DS boards, and ask your questions. There are lots of revision people there. It's good that you are doing the research into all of your options.
