Recommendations for Kaiser PCP?

Hi: I just switched to Kaiser in Portland and now have to select a PCP. I am going out of the country for DS surgery at the end of June and would like to know of any Kaiser PCPs who are supportive of bariatric surgery, and has experience with patients who have had the DS. I do have a call into one of the advice nurses, but so far they havent been very helpful in helping me look. they keep just wnating me to make an appointment with different doctors to find out, and that seems like a waste of their time and mine. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd prefer a PCP at the Sunset location or a location near downtown, but if a PCP is highly recommended who is further away, I'm willing to travel. thanks!

I had surgery with Kaiser, but my PCP isn't very educated about it. You might check with Mary Lou Greenwood in Kaiser's bariatric program. She may be able to refer you to someone.

Thanks. I'm new to the Kaiser system and am not sure how things work yet. How would I go about getting in touch with her? I don't find her in any directory. Thanks!

Thanks. I did contact Mary Lou yesterday and she was not helpful. Once I told her that I was going to have the DS, she was very outspoken against the procedure and went on to tell me her opinion of how inferior and dangerous it is. She asked why I wanted that procedure and, without getting into specifics to argue with her about, I told her that I've done quite a bit of research and have come to the conclusion this is the best option for me. She then became quite condescending, telling me (and this is an exact quote), "I know you THINK you've done your research, but...." (I'm a very highly educated person and am well aware of what research I've done!) It was quite an unpleasant experience to say the least. Towards the end, she did seem to become a bit more helpful in that she said to be sure I follow up with her after I've had the surgery so they can monitor me, etc. So I will definitely follow up with her, even though her obstinance is a bit offputting to say the least. So... if anyone has any leads on supportive Kaiser PCPs, I am still in need! Thanks

DR C.Rey at sunnyside. Love him, he supports me in becoming a healthy person. Was a self-pay, kaiser is not doing lap-band.
