Support group for Eugene
Unfortunately, it is only for patients of the Oregon Bariatric Center. We had another local patient who was going to Portland for surgery (for insurance reasons) and the office told her that she couldn't attend as she was not a patient of theirs. So, I would suggest calling the office to double check on that ruling. It may have changed but I don't know.
Hello Dianne,
I attend the local Eugene Support Group for both Dr's Gorrin and Umbach. They decided there would NOT be a support group meeting in December.
We meet at the Peace Health Facility on Willamette Street on the 4th Tuesday of each month. It starts at 5:30 PM and ends at 7 PM.
I hope this helps you and look forward to meeting you in the future.

Dear Diane,
Dr. Tersigni at Bay Bariatrics in Coos Bay has numerous patients in the Eugene and Springfield areas. We are planning on starting a support group in Eugene soon and it will be open to all bariatric patients. Dr. Tersigni has a passion for health and fitness and wants all of us to be successful. The data clearly shows that patients who attend support groups have a much higher success rate. We currently have support groups in Florence, two in Coos Bay, Brookings, Crescent City, and Redmond. I have a daughter that lives in Eugene. She had bariatric surgery with Dr. Tersigni six years ago and has been very successful. She hopes to enter the nursing program at LCC in the fall. She has been asking me about getting a group going in Eugene and would be very interested in providing leadership. As soon as we find a location we will pass the information on. Good luck with your surgery in Portland. They have some wonderful programs there. I am so happy I choose to have surgery over 7 years ago. It has really changed my life and health.

This is my first posting - just joined today. I was so happy to hear that there was a possibility of a support group in Eugene.
I attended the initial informational seminar at OHSU this past Monday. I have to get surgery in Portland because of insurance coverage, however, I work in Eugene and live in Springfield and really would like to get into a support group here.
I am busy reading everything I can find on the surgery and learned of this website at the informational seminar presented at OHSU by Dr. Wolfe.
