Kim, how are you today?
Hi Kim - I noticed you post about weakness in your arms and legs the other day and am wondering how you are feeling? Did the doc say it was just from eating so little? I've read a lot about the need for protein and know some folks use protein drinks. I decided to check them out, since I figured I'd better find out if I could tolerate them, and thought they may also help me in losing my pre-op weight when the time comes. I got the Unjury -- a selection of the chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry packets. So far, I really like the chocolate and it helped me feel really full. I think that in general I don't eat enough protein.
Anyway, hope you are feeling lots better!
Linda
Hi Linda,
I am feeling better today. Yesterday was a little worse than Thursday. I spoke with the nurse via email a couple of times yesterday and she checked with Dr. Gorrin. They didn't think it was related to surgery and I suggested maybe it was my cholesterol medication (Zocor). I thought maybe it is metabolized differently after surgery because I had no problems with it before surgery. Muscle aches and weakness is a side-effect of the "statin" drugs and I cannot take Lipitor because of that. So, at his advise, I stopped taking it as of yesterday and today I am a bit better. So, I am thinking it was probably that. Hopefully my blood work will be okay without the medication.
Thanks for asking about me. I am doing great though. Down 33 pounds since coming home from the hospital and feeling pretty darn good. I had my first experience with eating a bit too fast this afternoon ... I felt like I had a blob of food that wouldn't pass thru my stoma for a couple of minutes. That was a strange sensation lemme tell ya. Teaches you quickly to SLOW DOWN. LOL.
Talk to you soon.
Kim
