If it is the test you are looking for you can put some crystal light flavoring in your drink and it is great. I was given bariatric protien drink. I got it from my nutrientionist. I believe you can also get it from bariatricAdvantage.com

I've also used the ProRated from Costco recently, but will switch back to the Isopure Dutch Chocolate (I get it from GNC when it's on sale). When you get it on sale the cost is almost as low as the ProRated and I think it's much better in the flavor department. It doesn't have that "protein smell" that even the ProRated has...and Unjury definitely has that "protein smell" also. Hope that helps! Sharon

thanks everyone so far! I found this on the interenet and wondering if anyone has used it. It comes in a lot of fun flavors like vanilla ice cream and cookies and cream... sounds good! TIA Tara

I believe if it is 100% whey protien then it is a good aditive to other drinks and foods. Most of those are tasteless so you can add them to scramble eggs for an example and double up on protien and not even now it. Kat

I'm really interested in this topic. Do most docs steer you toward whey protein as opposed to soy protein? I am severely allergic to soy, so won't be able to use that when (and if) I get to have my surgery. How often do you need the protein supplement? Once a day? Several times a day? Linda

Linda, I was told that we process whey protein easier than soy, so that is why they recommend whey protein. There are several grades of whey protein with the best absorbed being whey isolate. The next one down is whey concentrate, and the least digestable and absorbed is collegen whey. So be sure to check the ingredient list to be sure what kind you are getting. I ordered a bunch of individual samples from vitalady.com. And let me tell you there is a world of difference in protein drinks! I have only found 2 that I would even maybe get again. The Whey Stack Chocolate was really good. I also tried some of those Profect protein drinks they advertise in the left margin on this website. I ordered 2 sample packs to see if I would like any of them. I've had 5 different flavors already and I would only order one of them again. I think it's just individual preferences. Try and try unitl you find one you like. I am supposed to try to get between 60 and 90 grams of protein a day. So on my liquid diet, that is three protein drinks a day. When I can get some protein from other food sources, I hope to only need one protein drink a day.

Hi Linda, In my information from my docs and nutritionist I was told that I need to replace one meal a day with a protein drink for the first 2 weeks post op then I will need to get between 50-60 grams of protein in a day and if I cant get that with food then I will need to continue supplimenting with the shake but as soon as I can maintain the required grams of protein with food then I will no longer need the shake. Thank you for all for responding it has all been a great help. I think Im gonna try the Isopur at GNC, ive heard its a bit pricey but that its good. Ive also heard that if you dont like it then they will return it for you... (not sure as that is second hand info). I will be getting some in the next day or so and I will let you all know. If anyone else has any ideas Im still listening! Thanks Tara surgery scheduled 12/6/06
