Hi I have to talk to my boss about this on Monday. There's no way i can say that I'll be off 2-4 weeks. Two weeks, maybe. So, with lap band how long realistically would i be out of work? Assuming everything goes real well. I have a desk job and don't do much but, type. Let me know what ya'll think. Thank you Nancy

Hi Nancy, I'm not having the lap ban but I have heard you recover a lot faster. I requested for 6 weeks off work. My HR department accuatly sujested it. They said that if I am ready sooner all it takes is a doctors note for me to return back to work. Kat

Nancy, when I had RNY I was off work 3 weeks, but could easily of gone back in 2. I had plenty of paid time off and enjoy being home so I went ahead with the 3 weeks. My friend at work had RNY a month after me and was only out 2 weeks. No problem.

Hi Nancy, I had the lap band surgery on a Thursday and went back to work 4 days later on Monday. I wish I had waited one more day. By Tuesday I was feeling just fine to be at work. Good luck, Eve

Nancy, when I went for the orientation on Lap Band Dr Patterson said one week off work and 2-3 weeks without heavy lifting. I think 1 week is realistic. I had mine on a Wednesday and didn't start to perk up until Sunday-Monday. At one week I didn't have any kind of pain. 22 pounds since 11/8! Kathy W.
