what can I do to spice up my food these first two weeks post-op
I am currently 1 week out tomorrow. I can have yogurt, soups, proteins drinks, juice, milk and am wanting more of a change to spice things up next week when I can have pureed food. I am so excited about having pureed turkey. I am so far never hungery and never craving food just wanting variety next week. Any suggestions?
Hi Courtney!
I remember how excited I was to move on to the pureed phase! The first thing I ate was pureed vegetarian refried beans heated up with a tad of melted cheese on top. YUM! I also would get some hot soup from the deli at Safeway and puree that. It helped to change things up a bit rather than making soup from a can at home!
I hope you get some good ideas!

Most of the choices in the beginning are either sweet or kind of bland. I was so ready for something savory. I craved the zing of Italian dressing. Once I was cleared for "real" food, spicy wasn't the risk I imagined it would be. For some reason I thought hot would be restricted, when in fact our systems care much more about sugar and fat. Not that I'm advising salsa at two weeks....just saying that eventually exciting food can be back! I too seem to remember refried beans as an early choice that tasted so good.

I started eating salsa with vegetarian refried beans and cheese when I was allowed to start my pureed stage at two weeks out. I've never had a problem with anything spicy. I'm six weeks out today, and just had leftovers from a mexican meal I ate last night for my birthday-a spicy seafood stew. Just be careful during the pureed stage if you use salsa to not have one with a lot of tomato skins. They might :-s
cause some discomfort.

Oh yes I do remember when I started on pureed diet that one of the first things that I had was refried beans with a little bit of melted cheese on it. I also used a little taco sauce on it and spiced it up a bit. I am really eating a lot of Mexican food now but in smaller amounts than I use to. One of my favorite foods now at almost 4 months is chili....i love it and it really loves me most of the time LOL....
