So, Kim, I just read your profile and saw your ebay business. Do you sell for other people, or just yourself. I've taken some stuff to webzone, on River Road. But, I'm not sure how that's going to go. I have a house full that i want to get rid of. Then maybe i can actually live comfortably. ie, I'm drowning in my own posessions. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks Nancy PS I'd also like to hear about your friends support grp.

Nancy, I am a power seller on ebay. I started out selling my grandchildren's used clothing and blossomed from there. Now I sell just about anything but my main focus is on high end children's clothes. I didn't know a thing about ebay when I started. I made a bet with my daughter that I could sell something on ebay and it took off from there. Selling is extremely easy even if you take just a couple days a week in the early evening to list and do your paperwork. I have been selling for almost 3 years now and I no longer work for anyone but myself, but I work 5 full days at my business. Give it a try and if you have questions let me know. It is an easy way to get your house cleaned out and put a little extra in your pocket. Kathy

I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Gorrin on 11/22. I also was very impressed with him. I, too, went to the first of the nutrition classes last night and found it very informative as well. I am looking forward to the support group this month, provided I am not too sore being one week out from surgery at that point. No one in our classes was having the lap band; I think most of us are opting for the bypass. Let me know if I can help. Kim :)

Hi Kim I'm so excited for you. You have surgery the day after my first appt w/Dr Gorrin. I can't wait (we can kiss that Turkey-good bye). I mean thanksgiving of course, not the Doc. I live in the River Road area of Eugene. I'd love to meet up with you guys sometime. Maybe, coffee, and chat? I feel soooooo much more comfortable talking to people who are in the same shoes as me. You guys undertand. I haven't told my kids yet. (they'e 21 & 23) They are of and have always been a normal weight-thank god. But, I'm sure they will be hesitant about it. Thanks for answering it's great to know you're there. Nancy

Hey Nancy, I am excited too. Kissing the Turkey goodbye is exactly why I scheduled the surgery for Thanksgiving weekend. I did not want to have another large meal and gorge out again. You should try and come to the support group on the 28th. It is at the PHMG Willamette Street Clinic in the basement. Take the elevator down from the urgent care side and it is right there on the right. It is a great bunch of people and, like Pam said, it is great to hear everyone's stories. I have struggled with weight all my life but right now am at my all-time high at 350 pounds and it is just time to take it off. Luckily my family is very supportive. My husband says, of course, that he loves me no matter what and if this is what I want to do, he is there for me. My boys are 18 and almost 14 and they feel the same way. They were most excited by the fact that I quit smoking 3 weeks ago. That was a big accomplishment in and of itself. My sister is an RN at Sacred Heart in Labor and Delivery. She is all for me having this surgery. She has been very encouraging as well. In fact, one of her coworkers had surgery by Dr. Gorrin about 3 weeks ago and is doing very well. I believe she was down 25 pounds last time I talked to my sister. Hope to see you at the support group on the 28th. I am sure your family will all come around and support you. Kim :-o

Hi, Nancy, I live in the River Road area too. Just off Irving and Kalmia. I had a lap band on Wednesday 11/8/06. I was going to have an RNY but because of previous colon problems it was not an option for me. I saw Dr. Gorrin initially and really liked him but as mentioned previously he is not a provider for my insurance yet and he indicated he would be at least a year before he could accept my coverage. I had surgery with Dr. Emma Patterson in Portland but Dr. Gorrin and his staff did all my workup. I haven't told too many people about my surgery just family. I am worried that I might fail at this weight loss option and I don't want to share with too many until I have lost some weight. I stayed in the hospital for one night and then home on Thursday. I have been surprised by the post surg pain but it is getting better everyday. My husband, sister and brother have all had the RNY and all have kept from gaining back after good weight losses. Kathy

Kathy, I am sure the LapBand is going to be successful for you. Try not to worry about it not being successful; keep positive thoughts and positive things will happen for you. Your family are the most important people to know about your surgery anyway but I would not worry about friends not being supportive. If they are true friends, they will be. Good luck to you.

Hi Kathy, I hope you feel better today. I also have a hernia, it was repaired years ago. I hope it doesn't get in the way. I live down the road off RR and Park. You're very close by. I have only told close family too. I don't really want to hear everyones opinions about what i should do. Nancy

Hey kim. I live in Eugene but my insurance would only cover my gastric Bypass if I went to portland so last monday Nov 6 it happened. I went to these drs. orientation and it seemed awesome. I am interested in going to the support group to meet other wls patients. Can you tell me where and when. I have heard that with the lap band that a lot of insurances are not going to pay for anything but the gastric bypass. Which 20K is a lot to finance. I wish you the best in your surgery to come. I am feeling pretty good so far. I am so excited about having pureed food next week. Courtney
