Has anyone had their surgery in Bend?

I am having my surgery in Central Oregon with a Dr. Koning in Bend. My date is Dec 13th pending on insurance. I am very nervus but at the same time excited. I want to do this so bad I cant wait. I dont know what I will do if Aetna ( my insurance) denies me. I had to do 6 months supervised diet and many test to make sure my body is good enough to go through with the surgery. I had to go through a sicyitry example to make sure Im not depressed or anything. A sleep study, EKG, heart aucho, heart stress test and a heart cathorization and a nutritionist through the whole thing. I am pretty much done with doctors but I guess in the long run it will be worth it. Kat

I am having my first visit on the 8th and I am hoping for my surgery to be in the end of November or in December. My Insurance has already okayed it. I will be having it done in Salem. Lori

holy cow, I guess I had it easy. My doctor took care of all the apporval work and it was approved in 6 weeks. all I had to do was go to one support meeting, have some blood work done, an ekg, and a 1/2 hr meeting with a nice lady psychologist. Every insurance co. is different in their requirements. But I guess jumping through a few hoops is better than not having the coverage at all on your policy.

The 6 months supervised diet is the only thing my insurance required. Everything else is what my doctor required.

Hi Kat: Really wanted to go to Bend for my surgery but our insurance would only approved Good Smaritian as it was the only "Center of Excellene". My Doctor in Bend recommended Dr. Archer but I understand he is a partner of Dr. Koning and Koning has an excellent reputations. Am going through the last of another test that Dr. Patterson ordered and hope to have my surgery in January. Wishing you lots and lots of luck. Am in Madras a lot so would love to meet you sometime. Hi Katrina, I had my surgery in Bend with Dr. Koning on June 14th. I love everyone in their office, they have all been so supportive, even when I call in with a silly question. I have lost over 65 lbs in nearly 5 months since, going from 235 to 169. Dr. Konings asst. Dan Cosgroe is there for you when Koning is unavaliable and so is their nurse Dora.
