Hi, well I am home. I had my rny Thursday morning, and they let me out last night. I am very sore still. How long was everyone else sore? That left side where they put the "stapler" in is a killer. How long until everyone felt pretty decent? Dr. Hong said in no time, but I am really surprised how sore I am. Thanks Kelly

I seem to remember the moving slow, doing lamaze breathing to go up the stairs, easing down onto the bed very carefully and using lots of pillows to not feel sudden gravity, going into panic if my little lap dog insisted once again with no warning that he belongs up there, more lamaze breathing to lower down onto the toilet and get back up, etc.?!? You mean that kind of sore? I think I felt that kind of sore for about five days. It seemed that every day would get a little better, but I was also a little sicker of being sore too! That left side was the VERY sore spot, the other five locals were pretty much nothin with a little band-aid on them. I took a lot of naps, used my pain medecine thru that first week, did a little cooking of my soup or making my shake, getting the paper from the porch, not much depended on me. I just shuffled around seeing what my new life wa feeling like? Next weekend you will feel much more of a desire to get dressed and go out somewhere even if it's to Fred Meyers. My sentiment is that it didn't take too long to feel pretty good. Good luck on having that good week! Patty

Kelly, I'm 5 months post op today and feel great, however I have extreme soreness and tenderness, especially in the largest of the incisions (same place you describe). Remember, they went through the muscle wall and that needs time to heal The biggest no-no i can think of is getting in and out of a car - it seems to put the most strain on the abdominal wall. try rolling out of bed instead of sitting up, that helped me quite a bit. I was very tender and sore for about two full weeks because I overdid it right after surgery. Be gentle to your abdomon and you will heal faster. Good Luck and take care!

I had surgery on August 22nd, I spent 4 days in the hospital. Within a week, I was in no pain. I had to go back in cause I was severly dehydrated, they had to put me on a TPN, (intravenious feeding) I was on that about 1 month. I got the PICC line taken out last week, and now I feel great. Peggy
