Well I had my surgery. It went great. No complications at this time. Dr O'rourke was great. I am now trying to get my intake of full liquids and protein to where they need to be.I am off my pain meds. last night was the first night with out them I sleep good but am up really early, so i see a nap in my future. jc
Judy,
Glad to hear all went well - i'll caution you to take it very easy still for the first few weeks - go easy on your body.
Also, don't be surprised if you suffer from insomnia, which can start right after or a few weeks after surgery, it's very common with this procedure.
Should that occur, talk to your surgeon, there are lots of sleep aids that are safe to use and work well.
Good luck and take care!
Judy - Congratulations, I am so happy for you. I on having my surgery Nov 7 with Dr. O'Rourke also. How was your experience? I am very nervous but also excited, well scared to death but just because I have never had major surgery. My mom, who lives in Fossil OR is going through Good Sam and a Dr. Patterson, so we are going to be going through this experience together.

I had to do alot of my own advocating they had little knowledge of this type of surgery. I hope your staff was better than mine.. they were all nice. let me know How you are doing. I go to OHSU for a follow up appt on nov 9th. I am going on my 4th week.
