OHSU Research Study - Energy Expediture and Gastric-Bypass Surgery
For any of the pre-ops that are having surgery at OHSU or Legacy, OHSU is completing a research study on Energy Expediture and Gastric-Bypass Surgery. I spoke with the cordinator and found out you have to join before you have the survey. Oh yeah, did I meantion it pays $1,500? I listed the information I found on the OHSU website below.

Title:Energy Expediture and Gastric-Bypass Surgery
Principal Investigator: Bruce Wolfe
Study Purpose:To understand the energetic mechanism by which rapid weight loss occurs initially and then weight loss platueaus, following weight loss surgery (i.e. Gastric Bypass).
Medical Condition(s): Morbid Obesity
Eligibility Criteria:At least 18 years of age, no history of eating disorder, not pregnant and do not have plans to become pregnant for at least 19.5 months and menstrual cycles of 21-35 days, no acute illness, no tobacco use, weight less than 500 lbs, able to walk at 2.4 mph for 15 minutes, ability to stop the consumption of alcohol during each phase, no history of current substance abuse, no history of chest pain or shortness of breath at rest or on exertion.
