I must be having one of those slumps

This weight loss roller coaster is getting to me. I'm five weeks out and have lost only 27 lbs. I did real well on weeks two and three but have lost only 1 lb each on weeks 4 and 5 and I keep plugging away. It seems that since I've added food, other than the protein powder and yogurt, that I can't seem to break through. I watch my portions like a hawk and drink water until my teeth float, but nothing will budge. I am so discouraged. Anybody experience the same kind of thing? What did you do? Help, Nancy

Hi Nancy, I went through the same thing, the first couple of weeks I lost 23 lbs then for about 3 weeks I didn't lose anything... hang in there it will start again. Now here I am only 4 months out and I'm down 75lbs.... Just keep following the program, it will work! Try to stay off of the scale and go do things for yourself, have your eyebrows waxed, or take your dog for a hike. You will start losing again! Darla 291/216/145

Thank you Darla, you give me hope. I was definitely in some kind of a mental and physical slump. I'm still motivated and will stay with it. I expect miracles and that just isn't going to happen. I'll ignore the scale for awhile. Thanks again, Nancy

Nancy, You're definitely not alone in this. For some of us, including me, the weight comes off in spurts. Here is my weight loss by week. This is really normal so don't get discouraged when the weight isn't coming off every week...it will probably drop suddenly when it does go. Just follow whatever rules your doctor has given you. Week 1: 14 Week 2: 7 Week 3: 0 Week 4: 0 Week 5: 5 Week 6: 6 Week 7: 6 Week 8: 0 Week 9: 0 Week 10: 4 Week 11: 1 Week 12: 3 Week 13: 5 Week 14: 1 Week 15: 1 Week 16: 4 Week 17: 1 Week 18: 5 Total loss now: 63#!!!! (at just over 4 months out) It's changing some now that I'm four months out. The first couple of months I could go a week or two without losing any weight and now I usually lose at least one pound a week and then some weeks I can lose 4-5 pounds. Just remember...everyone is going to be somewhat different in their pattern of loss! Best of luck to you! Sharon

My weight loss looks a lot like your schedule. I saw Dr Jan on Monday and he was very pleased with my progress so far. He said that I'm right on track and everything looks good. I just wish I was more patient about it all. I mean I just finished 5 weeks so I'm pretty good at 30 pounds. Your words encourage me to stay with it and ignore my scale for awhile. Thanks again, Nancy
