1st 1x1 with Brenda and Julie @ Kaiser

Hello All, I have my first one on one appt with Brenda and Julie next Thursday the 31st of Aug. Is there anyone who can tell me what I can expect. I was told each appt will last about an hour. I honestly don't think I have made enough progress to get my referral to the surgeon yet, So I don't want to get too excited. But what can I expect out of this appt? Sarah: They will want to see a food diary when they talk to you. Brenda will want to weigh you to see how you are doing. She will go over with you the amount of weight they will expect you to lose. I had surgery on the 22nd of February, I had been in the program approximately 18 months , I had to meet them 2 or 3 times before they had sent me to see the surgeon, at times, I did have regrets, thinking I will never get past them. So that makes me 3 days post op already. ( my how time flies) anyway, you can e-mail me at [email protected] if you want. Peggy

Hi there, My name is Vicky and I live in Aloha, Or. and I'm going to Kaiser and would love to hear about how this works also. I got a letter that say's I have been approved to the gastric bypass program, I have signed up for the freedom from diets 12 week class. And I did get a letter to come to a informational class in Sept. I'll tell you what if someone said that we have an opening tomorrow I think I would drop everything and go for it. Hey Vickie, I attened the 12 week freedome from diets class before I got my referral to the bariatric dept. Once I got my referral and attended the orientation meeting, I made my next appt for the group meeting with Julie(the social worker) Once that was done then I had to schedule one on one meetings with Julie and Brenda(nutritionist). That is where I am now. I had my meetings with Brenda and Julie yesterday. They do require you to loose appx 10% of your total body weight before surgery. I have lost 31(found out yesterday) and I have 19 more to go. I am going to see a physical therapist and then back to Julie and Brenda in 4-6 weeks. Hope that helps. Sarah

Sarah, Thank you very much and that does help. I have gotten a letter to go to the informational class also have you done that yet. I'm going on Sept. 15 and really looking forward to it. My husband is going to go with me :) Again thank you so much for your info. I'm really excited about starting this process. Vicky
