I'm thinking of you Tee!
I am thinking of you and hoping you are having an O.K. time of it. I'm sure you are being a real sweetie of a post-op patient. Don't forget .....Dr. Phil at 3:00 and Oprah at 4:00. Or what ever shows you wouldn't admit to watching - when you are recouping it is time for old Law and Orders or Pimp my Ride?!?
I can guarantee that my RNY, emergency gallbladder surgery and three C-sections combined would not add up to the pathetic week I have had nursing my seventeen year old son through getting his tonsils out!!! We are on day six post-op and haven't had one small sign of improvement yet. Doc says days 5 and 6 can be the worst ones. I'm sure he will not remember when he surfaces from the pain and drug haze that every act of kindness and tending has been rewarded with surly, mad, complaining in an unintelligable mumbling. The family is able keep our humour about it only because it is so obviously not him. We dare eachother to take the cream of wheat in and suggest he eat it, or go in and bring him fresh ice water. Jeeez!! I did get mine out at nineteen, and do remember it as really tough. That said....I do think there is a reason us girls have the babies. Sorry any guys reading this, but his surgeon said he pretty much only has to bump up to the narcotics to the ones my son is on in the sixteen to twenty five year old males.
Sorry.....I had to complain somewhere!! I hope you are having a much easier time of your procedure, and that all news is good.
Patty
The news is mostly good. Who among us can anticipate all the possibilities?
My husband had a panic attack and hid my pain meds believing I might be ODing. Why ask the doctor when you have a 25 year old son and a 24 year old daughter in law to ask? Men!
When I finally twigged in on this, I insisted on calling the doctor. We went up at 9 pm and met him in the parking lot (deep throat?...couldn't resist hahahaha)
So, the doctor tells him to reinstate the pain meds (and prescribed more) and suggested maybe he have a valium himself! My husband was scared, no lie. He has promised to get more qualified advice next time. Perhaps because I came home the day after surgery.........who knows?
I'm doing great, really. The neck lift they couldn't do? Well, the thyroid guy did "a little work." Can't wait to see it once the swelling goes down. They did find two more tumors (nodules) and I'll find out how the pathology comes back when I see him tomorrow.
Other than that, not feeling too bad. I'm sore but not in pain.
And you, the house hunt and the the rest of your summer? Hope your trip was a good one.

My house sale has been a slow stall all summer. AHHHHHHHH!!!! I never anticiapted I would still be selling in August. We are too conservative to do a contingency or bridge purchase - we will wait until that buyer comes along. Just hope it is SOON! The kids are starting at their new schools on transfers on the faith that this will all come into place eventually.
Our trip to CA was perfect! It was only four days, but we managed to fit in so much quality connecting with family and friends. We did a full week worth of running around, eating and gabbing with loved ones. My kids had great connections with the cousins, which is so nice to see. My mother-in-law was truly thrilled with the eightieth party, except for one thing. During the pre-party period we were waiting with her lifetime girlfriends and folks, one of them said something to me about thinking John's mom was only 78. (I was putting an 80 on one of the two cakes we had) I didn't think anything much about it, but when the surprised throwing balloons moment passed and folks were talking - she spotted the cake and pulled me aside. With complete seriousness she said "could you get those candles off that cake - they think I'm turning 78". The gals really got a shock (I guess) and she was really feeling a quandry. I took it off, but it was written on the other one in frosting, and my daughter's card she made was a big 80. What a silly thing! If anything I'd like and say I was older so I would seem to look good for my age. It makes it hard on yourself having to try to look younger!
Glad you got your neck situation taken care of. Hope it all is good news. I had my own troubles with the pain meds for Harry. I felt he was undermedicated for pain control, but that can be a difficult conversation to have with the nurse.
Take care of yourself!

Hey, I've been thinking about you too!!!
So glad to hear you are doing as well, if not better than expected. I had the class reunion...went well...VERY well LOL. Wore a cute little black dress that fit like a glove in all the right places (with a body suit to make sure the places were right!) and was flirted with outrageously. Got an award too for most glamorous! pffff. There were a lot of nice looking women there! I think it must have been the long red hair.
Well, don't be a "pain in the neck" much longer! Hope you are up and around and giving them hell soon!

Hi Patty,
Hoping that your son recovers quickly! Remember, he is a male and they can't take pain!
We are having some pet issues here. If you aren't a pet lover, it's hard to relate, but our sweet kitty may be dying and I am a mess. We have to force feed her and she's now avoiding me because of it. Lord! It's like having another child!
Anyway, maybe we can get together and see a movie sometime? I get free popcorn on Tuesdays!!!

So sorry for kitty's trouble. I am a pet lover.
The night before Harry's surgery my little dog started coughing. Had to drop the lasagna into the oven (it was John and Harry's birthday dinner) and rush to vet. He has Kennel Cough, which is like doggie whooping cough. He was up all night and has to take two meds twice a day. Next morning take Harry for his surgery, and left John in charge of the homefront. When we came home at noon, new was that our other dog was missing for two hours. The girls had searched the neighborhood, John was convinced he was in the house because the yard wasn't open anywhere. I looked everywhere in the house and by car (yeah....poor Harry was left standing in the kitchen). Ends up he was hiding way under our low deck in a section only two boards wide and ten feet long. You could never get to him. Finally convinced him to come out, and it is obvious he is SICK. He came in the house and got in the bathtub and started scratching to China. Had to rush him to vet. Just a coincident that he had to get a raging ear infection in the same 24 hours that Tony got Kennel Cough and Harry had surgery. The ear infection requires drops (not well received by the dog) and pills twice a day. Oh and Harry needs meds and stuff ALL day. I am running a M.A.S.H. unit this week - and it's all boys I love!!!
I'm sorry about kitty. I've been getting the dog pills down with a dab of peanut butter.
Movie Tuesday sounds great. Another week and the kids will go back to school. It gets busy, but there are more free times during the day. We can meet at Bridgeport.
