Post Op Appointments, for how many years?
Hi, I had my surgery back in March of 2003. I'm supposed to have my 3 yr follow up appointment next month. Except I got married a few months back and don't think my husband's insurance allows for a follow up appointment for WLS. Plus I now live 3 hours away from where I had the surgery. The whole thing seems like such a hassle. I'm at the same weight I was at my last appointment and no major concerns that haven't been addressed before. Still not at goal, but have maintained a 100 lb weight loss for about 2 yrs.
How many years did most of you go for post-op appointments?
You know, I would plan to go anyway. You don't need to tell the insurance anything about the wls, but just go to the doc and ask for him to run all the related tests like the b's and iron, etc. It's a good idea to keep up with that even when you feel fine because sometimes it takes awhile for you NOT to feel fine.
My insurance didn't pay for wls until this year, but even though I went to Mexico for my surgery I had all my tests done here in the US. They haven't had a problem paying for any of it, and I am still going in every 4-6 months since I have a problem keeping up on my iron and B's.
