Geting in my protein
I am having a hard time getting in my protein. To do it with those little measurements it seems like I'm suppose to be eating all of the time to get it all in. How have any of you been able to stay on track with it? I'm almost 3 weeks out and still on the liquid diet thing with protein powder and broth and cool-aid and water and ground up vitamins(yuk). HELP! Thanks, Nancy
I am new to the board, I am 4 weeks post-op. I felt the same way. I am pretty darn sure that I did not get in all of my protien and water. It worried me that I was not able to follow. I hated the canned protien mixes and I could not drink all of the powder mixes. So I also will say hang in there. You probably do not have much time to go before you can start eating "mushie" foods. Oh yeah, the sugarfree popsickles are great.
But now I am on solids/mushies. My Dr. said 4 weeks and I hit the cubboards. I am finding that eggs and soup are getting along with me very well. Also diced up chicken and fish and even had some water melon.
So, see what you have to look forward too?

Pam, I just now got your message about the protein trials and tribulations. Thanks for giving me your feedback. I'm just so insecure with this protein management but I see the Dr and dietitian on Monday so hopefully they can offer some extra insight into this dilemma. My main concern is that if I don't get enough protein at the start of things more of my hair will fall out than is necessary. I am doing mushie foods now and did some watermelon in the blender. I even ate a soft granola bar and it went down pretty good. I just don't want to stretch my stomach after going through all of this and be back where I started. I would rather be anorexic than have the weight gain. I sound like a basket case, I know, but these are real fears. Thanks again,
Nancy
