What are we suppose to have on hand besides the soups, protein powder, jello, unsugared drinks? I mean like special spoons or cups, what are the baby wipes for, what else do I need to get. Time is running out! Help! Nancy

Hi Nancy! One other thing I can think of that you'll likely need is a pill crusher. They sent me home from the hospital with a prescription in pill form that I had to crush and mix with some water. I got my pill crusher at Walmart for around $3, I think it was. I didn't use any special baby spoons or cups or anything like that. I highly recommend Propel drinks (you can find them by the water in the grocery store). You will get REALLY tired of sipping plain water and the flavored water will really help. I especially like the Strawberry Kiwi or the Black Cherry ... you can also get them at Walmart. Good luck to you! Deanna

Hey Nancy--sounds like your surgery is getting really near I am just a pre-opt, but from browsing around I've noticed that SF popcycles seem to be a huge rave. I also agree with the propel drinks I really like them. Recently I purchased some water bottles at Costco that have the oz marked on the side. This has really been a huge help in getting my daily H2O supply for the day. Good luck and keep us updated.

Nancy, Glad your time is almost here! Those early days are actually pretty simple - as in your food/drink options and activities are fairly limited. I agree the sugar free popsicles were yummy - especially it being summer. I didn't use baby wipes, but having a hand held shower was my god send. It is because the first few days you are sore and it can be really hard to reach, move, bend, etc. Whatever helps! The Knor (sp?) brand of bullion cubes were much better tasting than canned broth or the other brand of cubes they sell. I found the 3 oz. bathroom paper cups to be great. I knew that so long as it wasn't fuller than that, whatever I was trying to eat/drink was about the right quantity. A blender is something I used quite a bit. One of my first "meals" was oatmeal cooked long with extra water/milk so it was soft, sprinkled with splenda. Oh yeah, a box of splenda useful. Good luck to you! Patty

One thing on the pills and crushing them - they are better mixed into 1 ounce of yogart then trying to drink them in the 1 ounce of water ;-)
