Good luck. I too waited until after my surgery to tell anyone outside of my immediate family. I had many concerns about "failing" again. So far this has been the best decision of my life. I had a RNY in Brazil on 4/19/06. I've lost 55 pounds. Although there are struggles with learning how to eat, what to eat, etc....it's nothing like the struggles of the many diets I endured. This is a great place to get information and advice. Once again, good luck on the journey. Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions you don't want to post. Betsy

it was a good thing,, Dr jan seemed nice I wonder what the best choice for me is the band or the bypass? I really want this to work,, how do you guys eat afterwards after the restriction of liquid and stuff? do you eat 3 meals a day? seens like you would get hungry between meals sence they are so small.. How small are they? is it hard to not eat more than you should? I am not such a big eater i just eat when I am bored and I love food that is very tasty and dont want to stop eating it. Is there something I should be trying to do to change before the surgery? wow guess I have alot of questions Kelly

I was 14 weeks post-op last Friday. I eat 5 times a day. In the Kaiser program they really have you work on your emotional eating. I would recommend that you start to analysis why you are eating and re-directing yourself when your not hungry. Right after surgery I had not interest in food and did the liquid diet for two weeks. For the next month I ate soft food, but my stomach really wouldn't take much of anything, but it is amazing how fast everything healing and your brain & mouth are still the same. I suggest that you really dive into your eating habits and try to get control of your emotional eating. Your stomach will help in the short term, but it is my understanding that in the long term we can overeat ourselves right back into obesity. With all of that being said, I have lost 83lbs since January and 50lbs of that was post op and it feels great. I am more afraid of messing it up then any side effects from the surgery. Good luck with your journey.

yea I have really been paying attention to why I eat and how much I eat. what kind of surgery did you have? do you have to eat different kinds of food than you used to eat for instance i like spicy food,, can you eat spicy if you want or is it all bland? wow 83 lbs is awsome that is so great i happy for you. I cant imagine being able to get that much off,
