Any thoughts on Legacy's Obesity Clinic Program?
I am going through Legacy also and I feel like that are very compentent and they have been so good to me. From scheduling all my appointments together to not getting upset when I called them every day waiting for my approval from the insurance company. I got a little frustrated during that time but I think that they have a great system going. I don't know who your doctor is but I feel like they will be doing me a great job and cant wait to get on the other side!!
I haven't experienced a single problem with Legacy's program or staff. They have been more than supportive and very accomodating (I was ready to leave the morning after surgery and I was the first patient let go -- yippee!!).
They provide you with all of the information you need to be successful.
If I had to do it over again (which I certainly hope wouldn't be the case), I wouldn't hesitate to use Dr. Jan or the others at the facilty. I have never felt they were critical or disappointed in me (something I know a lot of obese people deal with in their lives).
I've not been as successful as I'd hoped I'd be by this point but I think there are other medical problems going on (I don't cheat the band and I'm getting all of my protien in).
Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have questions.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I used Legacy, my surgeon is Dr. Hong. They have been wonderful. I call and ask questions and never am made to feel stupid. I had to return to the hospital the day after I was released (turned out to be nothing) and still Dr. Hong never made me feel silly for calling or anything. I am very glad that I used them and would recommend them any day!
You've made a good choice, don't worry! :o)

Hi Nancy....I am using Legacy also. Had the Lap RNY on June 20 with Dr. Hong. They are a wonderful group. If I could change one thing, it would be that we could have a two week check up instead of waiting for one month....It's probably just my insecurity, but I'd like to have a chance to talk with the Dr sooner.
I have been recomending this program to everyone, all the people at the office are so helpful and so supportive. I gave the number of the center to of the other nurses that I work with and he is going to start in the program, going for the informational sessions soon. There are about 5 people where I work that are going to have the surgery but I am the first one, so I will have to be the one to find all the mistakes first. I think they are the greatest doctors in the world but I do agree with Terri and I would have liked to see Dr. Hong before I go back to work but that is not to be. Sonya
Nancy, I had my surgery on Nov 23, 2005 with Dr. Patterson. I also have seen Dr. Hong quite a few times both before and after surgery, and I think they are both great. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was my hospital stay. I don't remember seeing either one of those doctors while I was in the hospital (but my husband says Dr. Patterson was there the first day, I just don't remember). I did get visited daily by a student doctor. And I hardly saw a nurse the whole time. My husband was the one to get me up and walking, etc. Maybe if he hadn't been with me, they might have been a little more attentive. Also, I did have a followup visit much sooner than originally scheduled, as I was having some problems. So that schedule is not written in stone, just a general guideline. I love all the personnel in both offices, and have found them to be very helpful, particularly the dieticians. You are in good hands, just be proactive and look out for yourself.
