Hi everyone, I have decided to go to the Seminar in Portland Oregon for WLS. I just got the results of my sleep study test. I have sleep apnea. The doctor said that I stopped breathing 11 times during the normal sleep cylce, then when in REM sleep 29 times per hour. This disease is trying to kill me. It will kill me if I don't do something. Today I am weighing and measuring my food 3 times a day. I need to do all I can to be as healthy as I can during the Lapband surgery. Those of you who have had the Lapband done, can you tell me what your experience was like from the beginning to the end with Good Samaritans? How long was it from the time you applied to the actual surgery. Do you have any regrets about getting the Lapband and not the RNY? If so why? Are you unhappy about your progress with the Lapband, it is too slow? Does it work? Thanks for sharing your experience with me. Hugs, Linda

Linda Have you heard about Dr. Tersigni in Coos Bay? I had him for my surgeon in Oct. & I have lost 165 lbs. all togeather. The closer your Doctor lives to you the better. In any event, the best of luck to you. Jerry

Hi Jerry, Thanks for your reply. Did you have the Lapband or RNY? That is a fabulous loss you have there. Congratulations!!!!!!! I bet you feel so much better. I can't wait to be better. I have heard that bandsters lose slower. Do you feel this is true? BTW, going to Good Samaritan Legacy Hospital in Portland. All in network doctors for me. Thanks so much for sharing. Been there, done that. They make the process as smooth as possible. I didn't have any complaints. I was the first one Dr. Jan banded on Oct. 7th and I was out of the hospital on the 8th. I could have probably gone home on the same day but I wanted to keep the morphine pump a while longer. No, actually, I just thought I'd rather be safe than sorry. I was the first patient they released on the 8th though (9:30 am, baby). I have found their staff to be friendly and supportive and they really do try to accommodate the patient's schedule. They are getting pretty busy, though. Now, about my weight loss -- I'm strange. Don't go by me. I lost 30 pounds right away and, since February, have gained back 10. No real reason why. I've now got adequate restriction and don't want to go tighter (one of my pills is now trying to get stuck daily). I exercise an hour three times a week (started this in April). They think it is a hormone/metabolic disorder that's causing me problems since I'd need to eat at least 4,000 calories a day just to maintain my weight and there is simply no way I'm doing that. Anyway, they are all very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend them. That being said, if you have complications, please don't blame me...
