I blend my vanilla in a Nutra Ninja with ice, a package of Crystal Lite Tangerine Grapefruit and a drip of LorAnne's Orange flavouring (also have peach and amaretto so will try those next)- blend with ice and cold water and it is palatable (not good but you can get it down! _ I threw up the first two I tried even blended until I added the flavours).
Hi there,
I am going through the program at TWH too. Just had my 2nd appointment - Met with the Nurse.
They are all so great, they listened to all my concerns answered every questions (I had a lot), at the end of each appointment they told me next steps, what to prepare for and both said have given stamp of approval, and what type of surgery they think I am best suited for.
I was advised it's about 1 year to 18 months from referral to surgery date.
Good luck!
selkiem - I'm so glad it helped!!! Someone gave me the tips of adding flavourings to them and it makes a world of difference for me! Thanks for the tip on the Orange flavour. I'll head to Bulk Barn and check it out!!
Good morning :)
Ginnny, taco salad sounds delicious but I literally do not have any of the ingredients... Guess I will settle for pork roast again lol.
Nothing planned for today. I got a referral to a clinic in Toronto and they have a 20 page questionnaire to fill out and send in. I've been working on it for two days and I'm on page 7. So I guess that is on my list for today.
Accountability: two bites of a donut and chicken wings for dinner -- darn you chicken wing craving. They were delicious though.
Post-op four years and three months.
Breakfast - protein shake
Snack - chicken wings
Lunch - boiled egg with a bit of a bun
Snack - carrots and PB
Dinner - pork roast on the BBQ
Snack - SF pudding
All water and vits.
Good morning!! I was up early this morning so I enjoyed my coffee in the hot tub and got my muscles ready for day 4 at the gym. I dressed optimistically this morning in a sleeveless dress. Dang sun better shine!!

you have to just add ice and use a straw if need be and chug. You WILL be hungry on Opti so as time passes it starts to taste better. hang in there.this is the easy part.

You're wise to stick with things. It's definitely the safest route to go. And if you've survived the first week, I'm sure you can do the second week.
You're also getting practice for the first few weeks post-surgery, when you really do have to be on a liquid diet in order for your stomach to begin healing -- except you aren't as hungry! And yes, Jell-O is universally considered to be fluids and is allowed even on a clear fluids diet! I'm dreading that part of the process, too, mainly because I don't like sweet stuff and it's an awful lot of protein shakes. I plan to experiment with adding plain protein powder to broths and to see how that goes, although it won't be a good plan if my surgery's in the height of the summer...
As for clearing out one's guts, I expect that there will be some fasting (or maybe even purging) immediately before my procedure, but I don't have any information as yet about what or for how long. I just know that it doesn't have to be 2 weeks!
Thanks for the welcome! good luck with your surgery. I will be interested to see how you managed.
