Optifast

Hello..

I had a gastric bypass Feb 2017.

I've made some pretty crappy decisions over the last 365 days. I have managed to gain quite a bit of weight back.

I'm trying to get back on optifast. Is there not a way to get it...at all?

I have spoken with TWH nurses. I have spoken with my family doctor. So far no luck.

Anyone?

Optifast is given by prescription only. Usually only folk apart of the medical/surgery program can get optifast. You may call your centre and see if you can get into the medical program

If you are only 2 yr out call your centre and see the Dietitian. Optifast really is for pre op or the medical diet route. Speak to your GP as well to get into therapy. there is a reason why you are not losing. You need to deal with those demons. Seek therapy to see why you are eating . You can do it

You still have your tool, and it's time to make better choices. Start weighing your food, logging, and being accountable to yourself. Join us on the What Are You Eating Thread. There is great support there and it helps to keep your head in the game.

Like Leslie said, Optifast is more for pre-surgery. The point of Optifast is to shrink your liver to make the surgery safer. Start eating dense protein, like chicken breast, steak. If you have room after that, eat a little veg. Stay away from the carbs for now to stop the cravings. Talk to your Centre about seeing the SW to get guidance with eating issues. You can't live on Optifast for the rest of your life, so you have to develop new strategies. We are here for you. You've got this.
