I am 15 months out and have been in maintenance since month 6 and I eat about 1oz per day of weighed veggies. Occasionally a bit more, but that's a splurge for me. At this point, I eat 4oz of weighed dense protein and eat that first and I can never fit in more than an ounce of veggies without pain.

Thanks Erin - that's good to know, I thought I was doing a poor job getting veggies in, I didn't realize it was ok to leave it out!

Agree with part of what Ginny said. Yes you should be eating dense protein...chicken, beef, fish etc.

Soups stews will go right through and so will yogurt. Also your meat portions are about half what they should be, aim for 85grams per portion.

i ate a ton of veggies. Had a salad every day for lunch (very filling with 3 oz of dense proteins.) they are a great choice for filling you up AFTER your dense proteins.

Also cheese is a fat source which has some protein in it and not super filling. Cheese is a weight loss staller for me. Your breakfast would have been much more filling with 2 eggs and no cheese.

Ditto for lunch, though I don't do cold cuts..too many nitrates etc...too processed for me.

Calories are fine. My goal was 800 by two months. My goal was 900 by 3. Most of my weight loss was between 950-1100ish. When I started easing into maintenance I upped to 1200.

I don't necessarily get hungry but I do know when I need to eat.

Are you sure it's true hunger or is it head hunger?

The reason I ask is that I have noticed head hunger and I am doing my very best to ignore it and distract myself.

Oh I'm definitely having head hunger haha! I'm still working on that, but what I'm wondering about is more an empty tummy feeling.

To find out if it is true hunger or head hunger, the next time you feel hunger, ask yourself if a plain chicken is something you want. If you say no to that, and yes to something yummy, it's head hunger.

The other thing that can trigger hunger, is when we stop taking the prescribed PPI (Prevacid etc.). That's when stomach acids come back and can feel like hunger. Some people only get a 3 month prescription from their surgeon.

That's a great idea, thanks! I'm definitely dealing with some head hunger, but this empty tummy feeling is new in the last few days.

I am still taking the PPI - I had pretty severe gerd before surgery - but I wonder if maybe I shouldn't be. Hmmm definitely worth looking into

I get hangry 5 years out and everyone notices. I need food NOW lol. But then I eat a few bites and I'm good. Turkey pepperettes are my go to when I'm hungry. In my fridge at the office and at home. If I have junk food like popcorn in the house I "think" I'm hungry. It's such a mental battle. I normally eat 3 meals a day and a pepperette. Im totally satisfied unless I know there is something bad in the house. I never eat at night thankfully but a lot of people do. Good luck!

Hmmm, I sometimes think I'm getting hungry but something small easily makes it go away, usually cheese, i buy the single serve extra old at Costco or babybels, mind you this was my go to snack before surgery too. Then other times I have to remember to eat, can go hours if not careful to schedule snacks, especially on weekends. I'm glad I'm not the only one in the 800 calorie range.
